We're not yet sure when we'll be able to get in more of those vaccines after running out Sunday. We ordered them, but ships could take weeks.
Dobby is 2 years old and is looking for his forever home. He's fixed, up to date on shots, house-trained, crate-trained and leash-trained. He loves other dogs and is good with kids and babies. Cats, not so much. We think he's likely a border collie/Lab cross.
Dobby was nearly euthanized before he was even born after his pregnant mom over-stayed her time in the full Clovis animal shelter. We were able to save her, and Dobby, originally known as Pig, grew up in foster care. He was adopted, but was returned through no fault of his own: The humans were moving. He was adopted again, but he wasn't doing well with some of the guests in the house and the family wasn't able to give him further training, so that adoption didn't work out, either. We had him evaluated at the Academy of Canine Excellence, and they believe he was over-stimulated and acting on a herding instinct because he didn't understand how to handle the situation. His trainer believes he needs humans who are knowledgeable about herding dogs, a structured home life, some additional training and plenty of daily exercise.
Dobby is sweet, affectionate and will give a return on investments of time and effort with much love and companionship. He loves playing, walking or lounging with his human. He really enjoys playing with other dogs and would make a great playmate for another energetic pup. He just needs someone who can invest in him and he can be a wonderful companion.

PLR alum Inzo is ready to see what's around the next bend. He's waiting for his forever home with the American Black and Tan Coonhound Rescue. He's 2-1/2 years old, house-trained, crate-trained and leash-trained. He's been doing well with a no-pull harness and has also used halter-type leads. He loves people, walks, playing fetch, smelling everything, and, of course, food. He would be a good hiking or running buddy. He loves school-age kids (unknown with toddlers and babies), men and women. He's somewhat selective with other dogs, but usually follows the lead of the most confident/dominant dog in the household. Shandi Willow is a playful, loyal, smart young adult female terrier mix. She is looking for a forever home where she can feel safe, at ease, loved and where she is shown patience and given time to adjust to her new family.
She's been looking for a long time.
Her original adoptive human family loved her unrelentingly for 6 months, but the 3-year-old family dog could not tolerate Willow’s competition for attention and resources, and the older pup became increasingly violent toward Willow. Willow is now with her 3rd foster family and has adjusted beautifully to life with two other dogs. She lived with three cats in her adoptive home and coexisted very peacefully and happily with them.
Willow is anxious around strangers. Her new family will need to create space and a sense of security for her when being introduced to new people, and out in public. With continued training and patience, she will become more and more well-adjusted around strangers.
Once a person has gained her trust, Willow is eager to please and is the sweetest and most affectionate little snuggle pup. She is wonderful company around the house and loves to be on your lap or at least nearby. Willow is adventurous and loves to go for hikes and is great on a leash. She knows and responds to the cues come, sit, wait, leave it. She is fully house-trained, crate trained and uses a doggie door with ease.

Delilah has been adopted! She's been in our care for a year and a half with little interest, so her foster decided maybe Delilah was already where she belonged.

I wanted to circle back on a post I made awhile back, at a very emotional moment.
Specifically, I wanted to let everyone know that Riley has NOT been euthanized or even rehomed. She was already on behavioral health medication and had already done a lot of training when the horrible incident with Chief happened. Now, we're working through behavioral modification training -- an intense course that addresses root causes of behavior problems -- with her. We've also implemented new safety practices at home, and both her humans are doing everything we can to ensure that kind of preventable accident never happens again.
We're incredibly sorry to Chief, The Pug Ranch and all those impacted by this and will continue to support them in his recovery and do whatever we can to amend this tragedy.
We just wanted to provide a brief update that Riley is OK and we're working through the issues.

He still has a cough but is on medication for it. He's still shedding the virus, which means he's still contagious for other dogs. (Parvo doesn't affect humans, cats or other non-canine animals.) He'll need either a foster home with no other dogs or one where he can be kept separate from other dogs, who must be up-to-date on their parvo vaccinations, for another two weeks. After that, he should not be contagious any more. We'll provide all supplies for him and any ongoing medical care, if Jerry needs more. We also have people available to answer questions and address concerns, so you'll have help even if you've never nursed a recovering puppy before. Jerry is about 11 weeks old and a very lean 10 or 12 pounds. We're doing fear free training with queso, and we are teaching him his muzzle isn't scary. We wanted to share this progress update, and a note from his foster: "Hey, ladies, wanted to show you some of Queso's progress with the muzzle. He wears it for a few minutes longer than you see in the video, as long as the treats keep coming. Given that he previously freaked out if a muzzle came near his face, I think he's doing great." Check out George's progress! He went into his kennel with a verbal command and stayed there for 40 seconds with his human friend out of sight. This probably doesn't sound impressive, but with George's severe separation anxiety, this is such a huge step. George is adoptable, and PLR will continue to support his training if he's adopted before it's complete.
Riley the Rottie came to the PLR clinic at Boofy's to get her nails trimmed today. She was very nervous, but with support from her dad, patience from our nail-trim expert board member and encouragement of liver treats poked through the weave of the muzzle, she braved the experience well.

George, one of our few remaining fosters, is working on his skills with a wonderful person who is donating her time. We're still raising funds for him for more training and support, such as possible dog-walkers when his foster is at work. He's an anxious dog and sometimes panics in ways that endanger him. Poor Queso was so frightened he jumped in their laps shortly after this video. They turned it off cause it was much too hard for him.
