Our next low-cost community pet vaccination clinic is tomorrow! If your pet is due for vaccinations, we have some of the lowest prices in town. Our vaccines are shipped overnight directly from a reputable manufacturer, carefully stored and transported at the appropriate temperature, and used within the correct time limit (or thrown away if expired) to make sure they're effective and reliable. We don't mess around with something so vital to your pet's health, or our pet's health, since many of our volunteers are also customers. Register at Pawsitiveliferescue.simplybook.me/v2.

We don't know how Delilah manages to sleep in crazy positions like this, but we do know where you can get cat and dog vaccinations for some of the lowest prices in town. That's at our clinic on Saturday at Boofy's on Cutler Ave. in Albuquerque. Please note that we won't have rabies shots available the last hour, but all our other services should be available the whole time, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign up at Pawsitiveliferescue.simplybook.me/v2.
We do take walk-ins as supplies permit, but we recommend registering in advance.

Riley: You do pokey-things party? Does I needs get poked?
Human: No, you got your vaccinations a couple of months ago. You're protected for a year, since they're not your first shots. You even got a three-year rabies shot, so you don't need that one again for even longer.
Riley: Yay! *Pause* Can I shares your snack'ums? I thinks talking 'bout pokey things makes me hungry.

If your dog or cat isn't up-to-date on their vaccinations, register for our low-cost vaccination clinic on Saturday at Pawsitiveliferescue.simplybook.me/v2.
We're only able to offer rabies from 11 am to 1 pm, but all our other services are available from 11 am to 2 pm.

One of our PLR alums decided to test his limits last night. And by limits, I mean opening a child-proofed pantry door, getting past a locked baby gate, and helping himself to two bags of potato chips.

Based on the evidence, I’m fairly certain there was knob-twisting, gate-scaling, and a solid amount of determination involved. 🫠

Thankfully, despite the vet bill and a very unhappy tummy, he is safe. It was “just” potato chips this time. But it could have been so much worse.

We were sent this graphic this morning, and it felt important to share. Plastic bags are far more dangerous than many people realize. Pets can suffocate in under five minutes, often while their humans are home or just briefly away.

In our house, all food is stored in hard plastic containers that pets can’t get their heads stuck in. We only use reusable fabric shopping bags, and those are kept way up high. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about reducing risk wherever we can.

Please take a moment to look through these prevention tips and consider what small changes might help keep your pets safe.

And if you’re the praying type, send some good thoughts to Denim, who is now experiencing the full gastrointestinal consequences of his poor life choices. He’s receiving vet care as a precaution, everything has been moved to the tippy-top shelves, and the pantry is now officially on lockdown.

Good luck to him getting back in there. 🙄🐾
What an exciting morning before 8am.

Volunteer spotlight!
We're going to introduce you to some of our awesome vaccination clinic volunteers over the next few weeks. These are the people who make the clinics work. We literally could not serve the dogs and cats of Albuquerque without them.
We'll start with one of our veterinarian partners, Dr. Christina Kulage. Per law, only licensed veterinarians can administer rabies vaccinations. So, we cannot offer that very important service without them!

Dr. Christina Kulage splits her working time between Zia Pet Hospital in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque Spay and Neuter, and volunteers with us several times a year.
Dr. Kulage aims to be a well-rounded veterinarian, but is particularly passionate about internal medicine and dentistry. She believes in forming strong bonds with her patients and their owner to provide lifelong care.
She shares her home and life with her husband, Zak, and four furballs. She enjoys traveling, skiing, scuba diving and a good winery.
Here she is with two of her patients, then and now.

We wanted to take a moment to send a heartfelt thank-you to the generous person who donated a Chewy eGift Card to us.

This gift will directly support the care of our hospice animals (we’re down to just two sweet souls right now 😢) and will also help with our clinic; including the treats we love giving your pets, with your permission, of course!

We’re also featuring Stormy today, who is still bravely fighting heartworm. She’s such a little warrior.

Clinic sign-ups open today, and it’s a wonderful time to start the new year off on the right paw. We love and support our local veterinarians deeply. At the same time, after digging into the numbers, we learned that coming to our clinic for puppy shots can save families a lot. Visiting us four times for your puppy vaccine series can save you about $205. Our estimate is around $40 total for all puppy shots plus rabies, compared to about $245 at a vet. Adult dogs and cats often cost even less.

We’d love for you to come out, say hello, and get to know us.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be spotlighting our veterinarians and volunteers. It’s a great chance to meet them, learn more, and get established as clients. Even though we offer discounted services, having a primary care veterinarian is essential. We do not provide emergency care or full exams, and what we do is not meant to replace comprehensive veterinary care. Your pets are seen and supported by highly skilled, qualified, compassionate vets, and we’re proud to work alongside our veterinary partners in the community.

Happy New Year! 🥰🥳

PLR alum Dexter gets his vaccinations from our low-cost clinic. He encourages others to join him. The volunteer who orders, stores and transports our vaccines is very careful about keeping them at the proper temperature, neither too hot nor too cold, at all times. Pet owners can be confident that they're getting high-quality, effective vaccines for their furry friends at our clinics. Sign up for the clinic Sunday at Pawsitiveliferescue.simplybook.me/v2.
(If the system won't let you book more than one at a time, you can do separate transactions for each vaccination at no extra charge from us, or you can walk in.)
