For those being impacted by the Salt Fire and South Fork Fire in Ruidoso and surrounding areas, we would like to extend our help where we can!

So far we know that the following places are helping out, and we are sure this list will grow:

- Corralitos Ranch in Las Cruces has horse stalls, livestock pens, and and RV space available for any people and livestock evacuated from Ruidoso.

- Española Humane and Animal Humane New Mexico are working with the Humane Society of Lincoln County, Ruidoso, NM to evacuate all the animals at the shelter, but they still need help finding places for these animals to live temporarily!!

- VCA Vet Care in Albuquerque has spots for displaced dogs and can care for them!

- If you want to donate food or supplies for the dogs and cats, you can bring them to VCA Wyoming on Wyoming and Candelaria or to Big Barn CrossFit or can contact us directly and we will get them to where they are needed.

Check the Village of Ruidoso FB page Village of Ruidoso. So many people in the surrounding areas are are offering shelter and refuge on this page!

Gus needs a new home! His family loves him very much. He is a super sweet snuggle bug. Neutered, vaccinated, house trained!! However, as hard as they tried, they took in two brothers from same litter, and they just cannot keep Gus Safe from his bigger brother. He had his ear ripped off by his brother and now walks around the house afraid of him.

**COURTESY POST - Pete is awesome and is looking for his furever. Pete and his foster are planning to be at our event tomorrow at Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming Albuquerque 11-3pm!

About Pete: My name is Pete! I am about 4 years old and 53 lbs. My foster mom scooped me up from a shelter in Gallup, where I had been found running the streets. I was covered in ticks and had a bad ear infection in my left ear. She took me to the vet and now I am all healed up!

I currently live with foster siblings -- a pitbull and a cat. I am not aggressive towards them at all, but I do like to chase things that move (like birds and rabbits). I think I’d do well with a sibling who likes to play!

I ride well in the car - I’ll hop right in the backseat and simply look out the window or lie down on the seat, and I do great at leash walking! I never tug. I like hikes and runs and when it’s hot, I get in the water to cool off!

Overall, I have a very mellow demeanor and am low energy. I like to lay down where my foster humans are and watch and listen. I have never been around children, although I may do well with them.

At night, I have learned to sleep in a crate! I’ve learned to potty outside too! I am still a little wary of some strangers, but am learning quickly that all humans aren’t bad. I’ve had a very rough start in life, so would love a human family to show me love and a place where I belong! I’ll be a loving pup in return!

True!!! It is also equally true that your dog would prefer to be safe in a shelter than DUMPED in the desert to fend for itself with no food, water, or shelter being chased by coyotes or bitten by snakes. Please people, if you wouldn’t want to be dumped out there, don’t dump a dog. KARMA never forgets an address!!

‼️ FOSTERS NEEDED ‼️
If you can commit to two weeks, we can save so many more!!!

Frankie T, Bingo, and Oliver are three of our available puppies in foster. We were only able to save them because an amazing foster stepped forward.

Oscar, Bryson, Deglean, Dylan, a mama and her 6 babies, Luna (white husky mix), can only be spared from the shelter if we can find fosters. Even a two week commitment could buy enough time for us to bring them to safety.

We are desperately in need of building our foster base for dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. Most of our intakes are easy, very sweet, our more challenging babies are NOT aggressive, rather they are scared or do not want to be alone and would be best if someone spent more time at home with them rather than away!
- if you've ever thought of being a foster, this is the perfect time to get involved in helping those who cannot help themselves, and keep them out of our overcrowded shelters.

Kanga and Dozer have started a new leg of their journey! They're learning their wheels and their foster is getting them all adjusted so they are more comfortable. ❤️

Neither one of them are used to walking upright, so there's a learning curve and working on developing muscles in a different way, but they're doing great!

Lots of cookies make it easier, of course. 😉

And Dozer really likes being able to sit up! So cool...

James and Shruti. ❤️ A homeless man was beaten to death by another homeless man all because he was annoyed by a dog barking. Shruti had been in the shelter, a boarding facility, adopted by Mark, and back to the shelter after Mark Levine was attacked by another homeless man. Our friend James managed the boarding facility where Shruti was boarded. "Everyone who met Shruti fell in love with him" said James, "including me". After Mark ended up in the hospital, James went around looking for Shruti, where he found him at the West Side shelter. Cross My Paws pulled him from the shelter, as James so graciously offered to foster him until he got adopted. We want to bring happy endings to the animal loving community, as we are acutely aware there is so much daunting information, much of it too much for people to carry, causing many to shut down. James has decided to honor the life of Mark, and Shruti, by deciding to keep him off the streets and out of the shelters. Thank you James for giving Shruti his forever home!!! Help us keep helping! Scarlett Update

SCARLETT UPDATE!!!! Thank you all so much for your wonderful healing energy. Dr Parker removed her chest tube and her right lung has now inflated and begun to work. There is a bit of fluid in there, so we started another anabiotic. If all goes well, she should be back with us by Monday.

Thank you so much Mattie Allen for getting Scarlett in so quickly, Dr. Lilly, and Dr. Parker (and team) at Espanola Humane for moving Scarlet’s intestines, stomach, Spleen, and Liver back to the area of her body where they belong. She is not quite out of the woods yet, but she is recovering at a 24 hour overnight clinic, and we will update you later as to her progress. Thank you for all your prayers and healing energy! Scarlett update surgery today!!!

The things you learn in rescue. Scarlett was brought into the Rio Rancho shelter as the lone survivor of her litter after being hit by a car(a). We picked her up from the shelter and took her to get an xray of the broken leg to see if it could be fixed. Turns out, the bigger issue is that her intestines are sitting in her chest cavity instead of her gut. We call this a diaphragmatic hernia. Who knew!!! Left her in great hands this morning, please pray it all goes in her favor!!
