Burque Bullis

If you are from out of town or new to the world of the VW "split window bus," the name Burque Bulli might sound like some foreign language to you.....and I suppose it its! More than just a shorter way to say the city's name, Burque is a term used with pride. We are proud New Mexicans and even prouder to be "Burqueños," (people from Albuquerque). ntains, Twisters, and more sand on the West side than in the Sahara! "Bulli" is the nickname for the VW Bus in Germany. According to thesamba.com, the VW Bus was originally to be named the VW Bulli but Heinrich Lanz, producer of the Lanz Bulldog farm tractor, objected. The nickname caught on anyway. Around here, we think "Bulli" sounds a lot more distinctive than "bus." Besides, if we used the term "bus" people might think this was a club for Albuquerque school buses! By using Burque and Bullis we make sure everyone is completely confused! Welcome to the Burque Bullis! We are proud of our city and proud of our Bullis!
