Skip the birthday boy…Brooklyn the house hippo…glamorous good girls Betty White and Blue Bell… ALL are still waiting. They are back at our main facility and ready to meet today!

THIS blue velvet wiggle worm is Dusty. She has such a cute personality!!! She radiates joy and excitement. She is so sweet, loves people, and loves to play. She’s 1 years old and has lots of energy to burn.

With other dogs, her best match would be a submissive and playful sibling. She has alpha energy and will reciprocate what she gets from others, so if another dog comes on strong or combative toward her, she will match that.

Meet Boomer, an almost 2-year-old American Pit Bull/Border Collie cross who was found as a stray in Taos last November. He's been in a shelter ever since – 260 days to be exact.

Since being transferred to Animal Humane in June, Boomer has been spending most of his time in an office with a Team Member, Stephanie.

Stephanie says, “Boomer is a happy, energetic guy who is ready for his very own home! He's super affectionate and loves to be pet and play. He really enjoys chasing toys in our dog park, tug-of-war, going on walks and bobbing for treats in our kiddie pool. I’ve started doing clicker training with him and he loves it! So far he knows sit, down and come. I think he will thrive and blossom once he has a secure and loving home.”

It’s and we’re so excited to share that Kaya found her new life with Eleanor today.

This 8-year old pup had several benign tumors removed, a spay surgery and a dental before finding her new family. Thank you for making it possible for this sweet senior dog to find the perfect home!

Something special this morning. I was at the incident command post for the morning briefing. Leighton Mody of Cochiti Pueblo had prepared, with his mother, a number of bags with gifts for the Firefighters. In each bag he had included a personal note. This morning he was awarded a certificate of awesomeness, a Wild land Firefighter shirt that was signed by all of the fire fighters, Idaho Smoke Jumpers cap and a patch from the Florida wildland fire fighters'. He is being presented these by the two section supervisors. How Awesome is this young man!

Due to evacuations from the Calf Canyon & Hermit's Peak fires, animal sheltering organizations statewide are in desperate need of new or gently-used crates to safely house companions that have been displaced.

If you have a crate that's taking up storage space, please consider donating it to Animal Humane New Mexico today so that we may distribute much-needed supplies to pets, people & shelters in need.
