Pet was sedated, areas of abscess on the right side of head and shaved and scrubbed with betadine. A small healed wound was present in the skin over the abscess. A stab incision was made at the ventral most aspect of the abscess and purulent exudate was drained. Abscess was flushed extensively with dilute betadine solution and a second stab incision was made at the dorsal aspect of the abscess. An umbilical tape " drain" was placed and tied in place to keep these wounds open and draining

Symptoms of ear mites in cats are relatively easy to recognize if you know what to look for:
Head-shaking
Scratching at ears
Drooping ear flap
Dark brown material in the ear
Inflammation
Pus

Right here we flush the catheter with saline to make sure we are in the vein when medications have to be administer.
IV catheters are place before an anesthetic procedures to provide a fast access route to give emergency drugs in the event of an adverse anesthetic reaction. All other medications can be given through the catheter, so your pet does not have the pain of receiving multiple injections.
