April 1st-7th, 2025, is International Pooper Scooper Week! 🦮

Please remember to practice good etiquette when you’re walking your dog. Picking up after your pup maintains a positive attitude toward dogs. Why should we clean up after our family member has left a gift? 💩

It will prevent the spread of bacteria and disease! Bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella are two that can be spread from dog f***s to the ground. Parvovirus (Parvo) 😳 is another disease that can spread through f***s from a sick dog to a healthy dog. Also, parasites can be spread to humans and other animals that get anywhere near unattended f***s from an unknown dog.

Picking up after dog will help ensure that every human and animal in your community stays safe and healthy when you and your dog spend time in places where other dogs have relieved themselves. Lastly, don't forget to wash your hands afterwards! 🖐️ 🖐️

Lily is a 10-year-old Schnauzer mix recently adopted from Watermelon Ranch, New Mexico's largest no-kill shelter. Lily came in to see our cardiologist, Dr. Lytle, and his two technicians, Jake and Allie. During Lily's visit, the cardiology team discovered they were in the presence of a little star! ⭐

Lily aka Miss Lizzie, was the first senior lady featured in the 🏉 "2025 Puppy Bowl." So, it was a great honor to meet this precious pup and Lily's new mom. "I was meant to have her." Lily's mom told us this when she first saw Lily's little face on Instagram, and that was it. She knew she had to give this girl a forever home. 🥰 Of course there was some competition to adopt this cutie, but only one lucky human was chosen.

Lily is now living her best life with her new family, which includes two sisters, Beatrice and Katje. Check out Lily's story on the Watermelon Ranch website. And maybe you will find a little star that will capture your heart ❤️.

This is definitely a Happily Ever After story! Because every four-legged kid deserves to have one. 😉

🇺🇸 National K9 Veterans Day is March 13! Join us in celebrating these brave dogs and those who follow them, who have played a critical role throughout history, standing alongside Service Members in and out of combat. Give thanks to those four-legged heroes who have done so much for our country.

March 13 was chosen as National K9 Veterans Day's date due to its significance in 1942. On this day, the United States Army officially launched the War Dog Program, also known as the K-9 Corps. This marked the first time dogs were formally recognized as part of the U.S. Armed Forces. Today, military dogs are seen as essential members of their units, even having their own retirement ceremonies and memorial services.
