We visited Rocky this past week at the new Lorton campus of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Rocky is looking for his forever home and needs someone with German Shepperd experience and a lot of patience. He is sweet but has a lot of energy! Please share so we can find him a new home 🐾

We have great news! Georgia has been adopted!! Congratulations to her new family ❤️🐾 Thank you to all the neighbors and volunteers for never giving up on her, for sharing her posts and visiting her at the shelter. She has a home now.

We visited Georgia today at the Fairfax County Animal shelter. She continues to go to Aquatic Paws once a week for hydrotherapy. Georgia is shy and takes a little bit of time to warm up to you but once she does, she will be your best friend. She is a very sweet older lady (estimated at 9 years old) looking for a family to love her. Please share so we can find her a home. ❤️ 🐾

A few weeks ago we helped the Hayfield neighbors and the Fairfax County animal protection officers trap and rescue a stray dog in the same location Gary (now Hank) was found in New Year’s Eve. “New Gary” is a sweet older lady looking for a new home with a family that can work with her and earn her trust. Chief and Bailey, a pair of chocolate bonded Welsh Springer Spaniels are available for adoption at Fairfax County Animal Shelter. If you can give them a home together that would be awesome. This cutie was found today in Fountainhead Park in Fairfax Station, VA. He was following people at the park. He is a male labradoodle, golden doodle or poodle. Currently at Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Please share so we can get him reunited with his family.

We fist learned about Gary on New Year's Eve via NextDoor where several of Finding Miles volunteers tagged us in hopes we could help him. He had been roaming the Hayfield neighborhood all day. No owners in sight. We immediately contacted animal protection to see if they could help. Finally at 9:30pm we got the word that an officer had been able to catch him. He was on his way to safety at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Gary did not have a microchip and a "Found Pet" campaign produced no owners. Nobody came to claim Gary at the shelter. We are hoping that by sharing his story and his pictures, we can find him a good family ❤

Miles is still missing. He will be 3 years old in March, I miss him every day. I hope wherever he is, he is not suffering.

Last sighting (3 months after he went missing): Helmsdale Ln and Telegraph Rd. in Alexandria, VA in September 2021 running South, dirty, scared and skinny.

Lily is finally home with her family after 6 months!! I sure hope it's our turn soon, in the meantime, we will continue to help neighbors with their missing pets.

** Update: we are so sorry to report that Sophia’s body was recovered this morning. Microchip confirmed it was her. Our deepest sympathy to her family. She was so so loved 💔

Sophia is missing from the Annandale, VA area. Last seen on September 6th near Kingston Dr and Silver Ln in the Hillbrook-Tall Oaks neighborhood of Annandale VA. Please share her flyer so we can help reunite her.

Last week we helped capture a stray dog found in Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria, VA. We were first made aware of "Janie" as she has come to be known, by a Finding Miles volunteer on NextDoor. We immediately went to the area to offer our help. Trapping Janie proved to be challenging because of how skittish she was but once the trap was set by the amazing Carlyn Kuder, Janie went right in! This was a labor of love from the neighbors in the Deer Run, Vantage and Stoneybrook neighborhoods, several animal protection officers that never gave up on her and the Finding Miles volunteers. It took 3 weeks to get her safe but she is finally at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter where she will remain on a stray hold until 8/29. Janie is a very sweet dog that never showed any aggression and was often found sleeping hiding behind a bamboo garden near barking dogs and children playing outside. If owners are not found, please contact the shelter and inquire about adopting her ❤
