Today marks Dash’s 365th day in our care. 💔 He’s been waiting patiently for a family for ONE WHOLE YEAR. Dash is a great dog. We know he is. And we know he can thrive in the right environment. Dash is housetrained, crate trained, clicker trained, and walks incredibly well on a leash. He loves to play with toys and will nudge you to get you to engage in tug-of-war. He’s cuddly, cute and charismatic. So why has he been here so long? Dash needs to be an only dog and is dog reactive, which can be harder to manage in a population dense area like the DMV. He would not thrive in an apartment, condo or townhouse. He would be most comfortable in a single-family home where he can go on walks without running into tons of dogs. His reactivity can be managed, and our Behavior and Training team has worked diligently with him to reduce it. We also think he would do best with older kids or no kids in the home. Dash’s new family will receive ongoing support from our Behavior and Training team, a year’s supply of free food and a shopping spree courtesy of Pampered Pet Boutique Barkery, a $250 gift card to Sniffspot (for private dog parks where Dash can run), and a standard behavior modification coaching package (valued at $750) with a local dog trainer. His adoption fee has also been waived. Oh Cesar. 💔 He has such big feelings and loves people so much! He wants so badly to go out our front doors with a loving family. He still needs a patient, understanding home as the only animal (he has not been comfortable meeting other animals while in our care). He needs a couch buddy, a steadfast companion and protector. Cesar’s had a lot of changes in his life recently, so he needs someone willing to let him adjust to a routine and continue positive reinforcement training with him. He is housetrained, a great leash walker, enjoys car rides and naps, and a good game of fetch every now and then. Above all else, Cesar loves humans and craves companionship.
