Sometime pet sitting isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a serious job to be in charge of a families furry family member. Last week I had the worst case scenario handed to me and at 3am I woke up to the dog in my care in serious distress. Without thinking I jumped up and got him to the ER to be seen for total lameness in his hind legs. He was rushed to surgery for emergency spinal surgery. He is recovering at home with his family now but it’ll be a long road. Had I not been able to act quickly or to think straight through the brain fog he might not have been able to regain as much feeling in his legs as already has. There was a lot of crying and worrying while his family was out of the country but I’m glad his chances for a normal dog life are better than originally anticipated. Pet sitting isn’t just some fun job to be taken lightly. Make sure you do your research and “interview” your pet sitter. Ask all the questions and make sure they have what it takes to do the best job possible. I’m just glad it was me with Hank and not someone else.

Gremlin is still getting used to all this new wildlife in Virginia. Squirrels and bunnies are either fascinating or food…she had already tried to eat a frog and a slug. 😑🤮
