Adoptable Pup Alert! Hello Fort Hunt Family! We are in search of a home for this sweet pup - Biscuit! His owner's family made the tough decision to surrender him after his owner sadly passed away. When he came to us, Biscuit needed a little love to get his weight back up, but now he is doing great and ready to go to his new forever home!

A little about him: he is 9 years old, but you wouldn’t know it as he still has young dog energy! He lived in a house with children and cats and seemed to do well with them. He seems to be ok with dogs with low energy and a proper introduction. He LOVES food and his ball and is as sweet as can be. His previous owner said that he could play ball for hours. If you or anyone you know is interested in adopting or fostering him please reach out! We know that his previous owner would want him to find a new family who loves him just as much as he did.

We are very excited to announce that we are partnering with PetDesk to bring an easier way for you to access your pets' medical records, schedule appointments, request medication refills, and other amazing services! We understand the frustration that sometimes you may feel that your phone calls are not getting through to us, and we hope that this service will make communication easier and more effective.

If you currently use our Petly page to monitor and track your pets' health records, that account will no longer be accessible after the end of this month. Please call the hospital with any questions.

During this transfer, we apologize to any clients who may receive duplicate appointment notifications or emails.

Our team at Fort Hunt Animal Hospital strives to provide the utmost care for all of our patients and clients. As with many other businesses, this clinic has faced unprecedented hardship due to COVID related restrictions and staff availability. The number of pets in our area has increased significantly while the number of qualified veterinary staff has not. We are hiring for new veterinarians but this shortage is a problem affecting the entire veterinary field, causing limited appointment availability as well as longer wait times.

Please keep this is mind as you call to schedule your pet with us. Currently we are booking appointments approximately two weeks out, and procedures as far as a month out. In order to be more accommodating to our loyal clients who have been with us through this difficult time, we have made the decision to no longer take new clients for the time being. However, we are not an emergency facility so same-day doctor's appointments are still going to be rare, and dependent on doctor availability.

Please allow 24-48 hours for prescription refills. We will do our best to have them filled as quickly as possible, but please submit requests with enough time that your pet does not run out of medication.

Beginning April 23rd we will also be closed on Saturdays. This will give our doctors the ability to see more appointments, and perform more procedures throughout the week.

We understand this is a frustrating time for everyone, and we want to help your pets as much as you want to get them help. We are doing everything we can to make that happen, including utilizing a waitlist so that we can call with earlier appointments as cancelations occur, and charging no-show fees for missed appointments to discourage wasted reservations.

As always, please remember to be kind and courteous to our staff members, as we are all doing the best that we can. Thank you for your continued support and trust in us.
