It's Adoption Update Friday and we're checking in on formerly shy girls Roxie (fka Tina) and Maria (fka Mariah) 💕

Their forever family tells us: "We adopted Tina (now named Roxie) and Mariah (now named Maria) in February. They have both become very cuddly cats (very different from how scared they were when they first moved in!), and we wanted to send along some pictures." 😻

A huge thanks to volunteers Alberta, Alan, and Deborah who hosted a Brownie Troop at King Street Cats this week 🙏

The Brownie Troop is working on a Pet Care badge, including Brownies from the local Lyles-Crouch, Jefferson-Houston, and Naomi Brooks E.S. schools.

Looks like they all had a lot of fun entertaining the kitties 😻🐾

Abe (named after Abe Lincoln) was found abandoned outside the Alexandria shelter and was an angry boy who didn’t trust anyone. After being adopted by his foster mom, Patti, Abe has grown into a loving kitty who pays it forward by fostering and socializing new “troops” that come into his home (throughout the year, there are 10+ cats at her home at any time!) 🐈

Abe is a real “leader”, making sure that the cats and kittens in his mom’s care are welcomed, cared for, and safe, but at the end of the day he “breaks line formation” for snuggles with his siblings, Garfield and Minnie 😻

On this Veteran’s Day, and as a Federal Employee or Retiree, help us honor our veterans by supporting the Combined Federal Campaign - a campaign that provides much-needed funds throughout the year for our rescue organization.

This week at King Street Cats as our intake and requests for help continue to feel like getting a drink of water from a fire hydrant, we want to share an update with you.

Just over a month ago we asked for your help, and the response was to say the least overwhelming. We shared with you some of the very special kitties who needed your help.

Darnell, Attina, Ivy and Bluebell have all overcome the challenges they faced and are living the life and growing quickly in their new foster home. Dear Franny, is still in search of the very special home she needs to have her best life.

Unfortunately, only a few short days after we introduced you to sweet little Lilliana she was rushed to emergency and succumbed to the injuries she had suffered just before coming to us. Her loss left a tiny paw print sized hole in all our hearts.

And finally, we have news of Bonita. The beautiful, sad, adorable girl who lost her sister in such heartbreaking fashion. Just three weeks after we told you her story Bonita went to her forever home. (In an interesting twist of fate, her forever mom is a trauma psychologist.) We checked in to see how things are going and received news that just couldn’t be any better. Bonita, now named Grace loves her family just as much as she is loved. (Please be sure to check out the video in the comments)

Our four kittens have all the care they need. We were able to provide the very best care possible for Lilliana, and sweet Bonita/Grace has the life and love she so deserves because of the unstinting support, care, and kindness you, all of you, give to King Street Cats.

Thank you doesn’t seem enough to convey how grateful we and all the kitties are! We truly couldn’t do this without you!

It's Adoption Update Friday and we're catching up with dear Paco (fka Fuzzball)💖

His family tells us: "He's doing amazingly well with me and Charlie after 5 months here. When I get home from work he immediately joins us on the couch and cuddles up next to me while Charlie is in my lap (her favorite place to be)!

He loves having his head scratched and being petted, rolling around and occasionally sliding off the couch to the floor - and comes right back up. At night he's usually sleeping under my bed and then climbs up on the bed to wake me up bright and early.

He is still a bit shy around others who come over to visit and will run and hide before eventually coming out to see who's here. And he won't let me approach him and pick him up, however, if he's next to me I can pick him up and walk around with him and he seems to love it. His health is good and he's still growing. I give him dry food and he gets canned food once a day, as well as the occasional snack.

I'm so glad Paco is part of our family, he's a real sweet boy, he and Charlie play a lot, and we love him!!" 😻
