We are wishing a very Happy Birthday to two darling KSC alums Prince & Fergie who turn 15 today 💕🎉🎈

Their family tells us: "These rascally “forever kittens” are 15 years old today! They are definitely more sedate than they were in their misspent youth, but are always up for a good treat puzzle (mom can’t find any that are hard enough!) and putting the dog in her place. We love these little floofs!" 😻

In addition to being a no-kill, free-roaming shelter, King Street Cats has a lot of experience with cats that have unique medical and health needs. When cats come into our care that require special attention, our volunteers are ready and able to take on the challenge thanks to the generosity of our Federal Employees and Retirees through the Combined Federal Campaign.

Randy and Cosmo are two residents living with feline leukemia virus (FeLV), a highly contagious, incurable virus among cats (more likely in those allowed outside). Cosmo, one of the sweetest kitties in the world, was recently adopted, and he’s hoping his buddy, Randy, a cuddly, avid birdwatcher, will be too 😻

While it sounds scary, FeLV can be managed through regular veterinary care, a calm home environment, and a healthy diet - and of course, these kitties need to be “only children” to avoid sharing the virus with others.

This week at King Street Cats...we welcomed back our reigning Queen Salali to the catroom. She had a bit of a health scare but after several days at the vet and a couple of weeks of TLC in one of our foster homes, she is back ruling her Queendom 😻👑

We were all so pleased to see her back but none more so than her devoted subject BooBoo (pictured guarding Salali as she relaxes in her little house). Salali and BooBoo are among a couple of kitties for whom KSC is their permanent home 💖

We want to thank our devoted caregivers who give Salali the daily medications to keep her condition in check. And to thank you for making it possible for us to provide a permanent home for special medical and behavioral needs cats like Salali, BooBoo, and their friends 🙏
