Easter Lilies and Cats: A Dangerous Combination

Easter Lily is the common name for Lilium longiflorum. This fragrant seasonal plant is extremely poisonous for cats. Eating small amounts of any part of this plant can cause dangerous symptoms and lead to death from kidney failure.
Early symptoms include vomiting, which may begin only two hours after a cat eats part of an Easter lily. Laboratory evidence of kidney damage begins after a day or so.
There is no specific antidote. To be effective, treatment by a veterinarian must begin no later than eighteen hours after exposure. Immediate treatment, which can limit the amount of plant material absorbed, is much better.

We would like to remind clients again with the anticipated snow. Majority of our staff memebers travel over half an hour to get to the clinic each day. Please be prepared that our staff may or may not be able to open our doors right at 7:30 AM tomorrow. A staff member will be there as soon as SAFELY possible. If we need to be closed tomorrow due to weather, we will certainly post an update here on Facebook.

If you have an appointment tomorrow, and are unable to make it due to weather/roads, we kindly ask that you give us a call to reschedule your appointment. Safety is the #1 priority!

Our pet's oral and dental health often takes a backseat because there are so many unknowns and it can be frustrating if your pet isn't cooperative. During your pet's annual exams, it is important for the veterinarian to assess the health of the teeth and gums. Your vet may recommend veterinary approved products to use at home and may even recommend a professional cleaning.

The staff at B Well Vet Service think dental health is so important, we have decided to extend the "Dental Month Special" (20% off the price of the dental cleaning and anesthesia) from now until the end of February so that more clients and patients can receive the care they need. With the holiday season in full swing, there is nothing that throws a wrench in your celebrations like an emergency trip to the veterinary clinic. Here are a few tips to keep your holiday season full of good cheer by avoiding these holiday hazards.

Have a plan in place in advance. Most veterinary offices are short staffed and have holiday hours, so there is a potential you may have to drive to the nearest emergency clinic.

Many of the foods that we love can be toxic to our furry friends such as chocolate and uncooked dough. Table scraps can sometimes cause vomiting and diarrhea.
