Training Rescue Dogs Training Rescue Dogs is a 501(c)(3) volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of otherwise unadoptable German Shepherds.

The mission of Training Rescue Dogs, a 501(c)(3) organization, is to provide training and rehabilitation to rescue dogs. We are committed to working with shelters to identify German Shepherds who need rehabilitation and then provide training. Training Rescue Dogs will locate and hire competent, experienced trainers who will evaluate and rehabilitate these dogs so they will successfully transition

into homes where they can thrive and provide their families with years of companionship and joy. Many wonderful German Shepherds who are searching for their “forever family” never find one because they display undesirable, but easily corrected, behavioral challenges. Some dogs, because of abuse, neglect, inadequate training or no training at all, never learn the social skills they need to be good companion dogs. Through no fault of their own, they might behave aggressively, defensively or fearfully. Tragically, these dogs are then passed over by rescue organizations, not offered for adoption by shelters and then euthanized. This is a terrible loss, both for the dogs and for the many potential families who could have welcomed and loved such an animal. Training and rehabilitation for these dogs is an unmet need among most animal rescues and shelters. We seek to fill this need by raising money for these often invisible and forgotten dogs. At Training Rescue Dogs, we don’t believe in giving up on dogs; we believe in giving them the future.

🐾SUSIE (A541625 is a 2yr old female German Shepherd that came in as a stray on 01/07/2025. Susie is her actual name as she is microchipped, sadly her owner never came back for her, she is now available for adoption, this is what our volunteers tell us about Susie:

Susie is a playful German Shepherd who is listed as 2-years-old. She was easy to leash up and get outside. She went potty right away and several times. Once outside, she loved the snow! She has a nice coat on her and a good weight which is nice to see.
Susie loved to come up close and give kisses, demanding pets. She was a little anxious and unsure of. The shelter is a scary place! She didn’t show too much interest in toys at the time. She would benefit from someone who will allow her to decompress and can provide her with exercise and a happy home. If you’re looking for a loving working dog, come meet Susie.

🐾ROVER (A554494) is a 3yr old brown male German Shepherd mix that came in as a stray on 01/02/2025.

Rover is a lovely GSD who is listed as 3-years-old. He was a bit timid of the barking dogs we walked by. As soon as we got outside, he went potty right away and several times throughout our time together. He has the best ears, very cute! Rover is an athletic boy who would love an active family to take him hiking or for long walks. Rover didn’t show too much interest in toys and was a bit shy. I think once Rover decompresses, he will gain some confidence. He wasn’t too interested in treats but loved doing a sniffari.

We saw another dog outside through the fence, but he didn’t show much interest. He liked to come for pets and lean into me. I look forward to learning more about him and seeing his personality blossom.

Teufel and Schwarz are a bonded pair of German Shepherds. Unfortunately, their owner passed away and through no fault of their own, these 2 are looking for a nice home. Both German Shepherds are very friendly and great with people, and both do well around other dogs.

Teufel is incredibly sweet. She's 9 years old and has traditional black and tan Shepherd coloring. She's slow moving these days and won't be up for long hikes, but walks very well on a leash and would love to stroll her new neighborhood. She loves people and LOVES attention. She loves to play with toys and balls. Teufel could stand to lose a few pounds and is very much in need of a dental visit.

Schwarz (which is German for "black") is an 8-year-old solid black male German Shepherd. He's a very youthful 8 year old with no trace of silver on his muzzle. He's a bit aloof and very curious, walks great on a leash, and is more interested in looking at his surroundings than playing with toys. He's a little anxious when he's separated from Teufel and really pulls from her confidence.

A meet and greet for potential adopters with pets in the home will be required. Both dogs will do best with calm dogs since they are older. They are not good with cats.

Although both dogs could in theory be adopted separately, we would love to see them go together into a new home. A family looking for laid back, chill dogs would be the perfect fit for these 2 sweet dogs.
