Steve, now Pickles, has been adopted!

Steve’s new family first learned about Tails of Hope at the Last Call Before Fall—we had brought kitties there.

They knew they wanted to adopt in the future and said they would reach out when they were ready.

Fast forward to Christmas 2024, and they were ready! Mom and daughter traveled to the rescue and took time to meet with every cat and learn about their journey.

That’s when they met Steve. They saw how charming, friendly, and loving he was—with a touch of that enduring orange cat behavior in his personality.

For mom, it also brought back memories of her favorite book from childhood—a book about an orange cat named Pickles. She had always wanted an orange cat named Pickles!

Pickles was the one, and they knew he would fit perfectly with the whole family.

Thank you to the amazing family for giving Pickles the best life and a loving, forever home. ❤️🐾

Sincerely,
Kossuth County Tails of Hope Rescue

KitKat is Adopted!

This amazing family arrived at the rescue ready to add a kitty to their home and make a kitten’s dreams come true. Their daughter and son spent time playing with all the kitties as they went through each room of the shelter. There is just something special about a child’s heart and energy.

In the last room—the back lobby—they met the super energetic, incredibly lovable, and oh-so-small KitKat! The daughter instantly knew KitKat was the one!

Mom and Dad also decided on another kitty—will post soon. 🥰

Here’s KitKat already cozy in her new home. She claimed her new family, her new home, and even her new dog sibling right away. Soon KitKat will be able to show her shelter brother the ropes!

Thank you to this wonderful family for opening their hearts, even while holding close the memory of their older kitty who recently passed. ❤️🐾

Sincerely,

Pinky has been both adopted and reunited!

Pinky was Leon at the shelter. Pinky and his owner have quite the story.

Pinky started out as a feral kitten. In his journey, he learned food could come from humans.

As a little older kitten, and with winter around the corner, Pinky got courageous enough to climb onto an apartment AC unit begging for food.

The caring man fed him and soon Pinky was a part of his little family. Pinky really took to getting socialized. The caring man put a lot of work and care in to house-training Pinky. A bond built. Pinky, at heart, is very sweet and gentle to everyone and every cat. The man took care of him until Tails of Hope could take him as rental only allows a certain number of pets.

Pinky came to the shelter in late November.

Later, the caring man told us about another cat he rescued before Pinky and saw a post and was wondering if we could scan for a microchip.

Turns out that cat was Salem! Some will remember a post from the summer about Salem! Salem was reunited with his family!

That gave the caring man a chance to get Pinky because of the allowed number of cats! The caring man wanted to officially adopt Pinky as he happy for the great services Pinky received while at Tails!

Pinky was back home a couple days before Christmas.

Pictured here is Pinky back home with his sibling Tootz. ❤️

Thank you to this person for being such a great advocate and support for the rescue and all rescue animals! Pinky has his purr-fect forever home. ❤️🐾

Here we have Twix & Scarlet, two new intakes as of an hour ago. They were orphaned kittens rescued during a photo shoot at a park. One of the kittens was brave enough to come out of the weeds to meow for help. That was in September. The sister of the person that rescued them took them in. She already has cats and some financial limitations are a challenge at this time in her life, so she put her heart into their care until she could get them into a shelter. There were originally four, she was able to rehome two. Twix is the White + Dilute Calico (the most white one) and Scarlet is the Calico. We will weigh them tonight when we check on them again. Twix is shy right now, and Scarlet is settling in quickly.

Some of us moms and dads might look like this mama right here after staying up late earlier this week to get everything done! Beautiful and a little tired! Little is reserved (she has to be fully done nursing) but Sarabi is not and will be spayed once they are both fully done nursing and mama starts to push little one out of the cozy nest. Mama then will soon be ready for a wonderful home herself and some much needed relax time! She has been hard at work away! She adores attention, getting pets, and the rare belly pets! The only two cats at the rescue right now that really ask for belly pets are Sarabi and Tot.

Nala and Garra have been adopted! Now named Rita and Ralph, how neat is that!

Gabby knew she wanted a kitty of her own, but her heart had so much love to give that one became two.

Gabby brought her mom and sister to the rescue to meet all the kitties and be there for the big day. They showered the cats with love and it meant so much to all the kitties.

Gabby already connected with Garra before she even got to meet him. Garra is solid muscle, soft fur, and all heart. He is so sweet, easygoing, and just wants to be your friend.

She also spent time with Nala, and the bond grew just as strong. You’d never guess that Nala is 10 and a half years old! She’s so spry for her age and healthy as a horse.

Here’s Gabby on Christmas with her kitties. Garra and Nala already know how loved they are. They are both doing wonderfully, and anyone who knows Nala can picture her soaking up a million pets.

Thank you, Gabby, for making Garra and Nala’s dreams come true and giving them endless love and a purr-fect forever home. ❤️🐾

—————————————————

Is this your dog?

A Titonka family has this lost dog at their house. She is very friendly, has a collar, and has a bandana on. They gave her food and said someone may have seen it running around outside of town a few days ago.

Two brothers came into intake tonight--Slinky & Smudge! They are doing wonderful. Around 8 weeks old. Pen is for size comparison.

Here is a little of their story:
My brother and I love playing, napping, getting pets, cuddles, and watching the aristocrats movie--that is our favorite! We are kittens that were abandoned by a feral mom at the beginning of Nov 2024, the start of winter time! A very loving family took us in, cared for us non-stop, and tamed us. They showed us the litter box, Disney movies, cat beds, and everything amazing about a loving home. We are litter box champs! And snuggle champs! We are as tame as can be and ready for a loving home soon.
