We get asked the best way to prep a bird for the freezer very often, So we figured we would make a post to help everyone...

We get asked the best way to prep a bird for the freezer very often, So we figured we would make a post to help everyone out and share with you guys the best way we have found to store birds in a freezer! First, we tuck the head under the wing, so if it gets bumped in the freezer, it won't break the neck. Next we wrap wet paper towel around the beak and feet to keep them hydrated, after that we wrap the bird snug but not super tight in saran wrap making sure the bird is not exposed to the air. Once we have it wrapped up, we put it in a thick heavy-duty freezer bag and tape or staple the bag shut so it won't open up in the freezer! When you're ready to bring your bird in we recommend pulling the bird out of the freezer 24 hours befor hand so that it is thawed and we can go over the bird with you in person to note any damage or imperfections the bird may have!
