As some of you may already know, our own Dr. Gil (or Dad, as he’s soon to be known) is about to embark on a new and exciting journey as a father! He and his partner are thrilled to be welcoming their first child very soon. This is a momentous occasion, and we’re simply over the moon for them. Let’s all join in and send our warmest wishes to Dr. Gil and his growing family!

Dr. Gil’s last day at the hospital before he heads off for paternity leave is Friday, May 3rd. His return date is undetermined yet, and we’ll keep you informed with the latest updates as we get them. But don’t worry—we have plenty of help and support in place to ensure that you and your pets can expect the same exceptional care and service as always.

Ear infections in pets can be quite painful! Watch for
headshaking or pawing at the ears, a dark discharge, or
odor. Ear infections are more common in dogs than cats, and some breeds are at a higher risk – particularly dogs with large, floppy, or hairy ears. If your pet is showing symptoms, please book an exam.🐾

We know it’s hard to resist puppy dog eyes, but be careful when it comes to sharing table scraps. Did you know that garlic and onions, in any form, are toxic to pets? And check those labels for Xylitol found in desserts, peanut butters, candies and condiments. Xylitol is very toxic even in small amounts.

From all of us here at Alhambra Veterinary Hospital, we want to wish you and your pets and your family a happy holiday season 🤎

Here’s the scoop—we’ve got a cool new scope! An endoscope allows our veterinarians to do a minimally invasive inspection of the inside of hollow organs like the stomach, esophagus, and parts of the lower GI tract. It’s incredibly useful in addressing issues like GI upset, foreign body blockages/ingestion, and collecting tissue samples for biopsy. We’re proud to offer this service to our clients and know that it will allow us to take even better care of your furry friends.

If you have any questions about endoscopy and how it can benefit your pet, or you’d like to make an appointment, please call us today at (626) 289-9227.

Did you know that dogs and cats have three eyelids instead of the two that we have? This nictitating membrane is usually hidden inside the corner of each eye. If your pet’s third eyelid is constantly visible, this could be a sign of illness.
