Help keep your pets safe in the winter weather with these tips below!
❄️If it's too cold outside for you, it's probably too cold for your pets. Don't leave your pets outside for an extended amount of time.

❄️Massage petroleum jelly or other vet-approved paw protectants into paw pads before going outside to protect from salt and chemical agents.

❄️Leave your pet's coat longer in the winter.

❄️Never let your dog off-leash on snow or ice, especially during a snowstorm.

Did your family get a new puppy for Christmas?
Your Puppy's first year with you will be the best time for training, building a bond, getting the correct nutrition, and getting your new puppy properly socialized.

Preventive care is the most important to keep your pet happy and healthy.

🐶Keeping your puppy updated on vaccines can protect them from life-threatening diseases. Parvo Virus is just one virus puppies are at risk for.

🐶Keeping your pet on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention can also protect them from re-infection of parasites.
NexGard Plus and Simparica Trio are just two great options for year-round prevention of your pets.

🐶Veggidents or other VOHC products are great dental care to start early on for your pet. Doggy breath is not normal. Once a day brushing or a dental chew can keep your new puppy's teeth healthy and clean for many years.

A great book to read when cuddling with your new puppy is, The Art of Raising a Puppy, by, The Monks of New Skete

Client Spotlight!
Saving Shepherds Rescue is a foster-based rescue organization who works to get dogs of any breed a new home. These breeds come from all different backgrounds.

The rescue is always grateful to have fosters who are willing to help or donations to help the new puppies or dogs coming into the rescue.

You may have seen Beatrice behind the counter while at the clinic. Bea was found pregnant and heartworm-positive. With the help of the fosters, she gave birth to nine healthy puppies.
She was then adopted by one of our technicians at the clinic and treated for heartworm.

The clinic can't thank Saving Shepherds Rescue enough for all its dedication to these dogs.

The Christmas season is a time to spend with family, loved ones, and friends; you don't want to spend that time at emergency clinics with your furry friends.

Here are some holiday Hazards to watch out for this Christmas:

🎄Number 1: Ensure our furry friends can not steal Santa's cookies! Holiday treats can include chocolate, nuts, raisins, and grapes. Be especially careful with macadamia nuts, which can be fatal if pets ingest too many.

🎄Some common holiday plants can be toxic to our pets. Poinsettias, mistletoe, and lilies are harmful if ingested.

🎄Electrical cords from Christmas lights can be dangerous if pets start to chew on the cords- this can lead to electric shock.

🎄The Christmas tree can be filled with ornaments that can be choking hazards to pets, Also watch out for ribbons and bows.

Happy Holiday Season! Let's try to keep our furry friends safe!

🎄Keep decorations out of reach.
🎄Dispose of gift-wrapping materials properly.
🎄Don't feed your pets leftovers.
🎄Keep Santa's cookie plant on a high table.

Center Animal Clinic is now offering Abdominal Ultrasounds!

Ultrasound is a noninvasive imaging test. Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to create real-time pictures or video of
internal organs or other soft tissues, such as blood vessels.

Abdominal ultrasound helps in the evaluation of abdominal
organs including the liver, spleen, stomach, pancreas, intestines,
kidneys, bladder, uterus and prostate gland. This test can be
extremely useful for diagnosing disease conditions not visible on
radiographs. The exam also can identify most abdominal masses
or tumors, abdominal fluid, and abnormal lymph nodes.

All abdominal ultrasounds will be sent for interpretation by an
internal medicine specialist.
