“Hello there, I am Sailor! I’m a two-year-old Pit Bull Terrier looking for my forever home. I’ve been at the shelter since July 16th. That’s over 100 days of waiting to meet my forever family!
I set the seven seas in search for adventure and treasure. What jewels call to this sailor's soul? Diamonds? Rubies? Pearls? My treasure is a family to call my own. Looking to the horizon, I dream of a family to snuggle, cuddle, and kiss all day long. I love hugs and sitting on your lap. I enjoy watching TV (Bluey is my favorite actually) and eating doggie ice cream.
I would prefer to be the only sailor in my future family (no other animals or young kids please), and I require that you allow me the luxury of snoozing on your couch. My bones are weary from sailing the world in search of a family, so a nap on the couch, snuggled up with you, will ease the rough waters in my soul. I am full of love and have many tales to tell. “ Sailor loves car rides and cuddles, but he isn't sure which he loves more. He loves getting all the attention, he will give you sad eyes when you stop petting him. He does know some tricks like sit and paw. He is very good when walking, unless he sees someone getting out of a car then all he wants to do is jump in!”

““Hello! I am Penny! I am a brown Pit Bull Terrier looking for my forever home. I am four-years-old and weigh 60 pounds. I was brought to the shelter when my owner couldn’t take care of me anymore. Since the beginning of October, I’ve been waiting for my forever family to walk through the front door—I can’t wait to meet them!
I am spunky and sweet. I love to meet new people and say hello! I enjoy playing with toys, being goofy all the time, and wow-ing you with my ears!
I have been around dogs before and did well, but I would need to meet any dogs I might hang out with in my new home. I am not good with small animals, but I do love kids! I am bouncy and energetic, cuddly and fun. Come meet me today!”

“I got Penny out of the yard after cleaning this morning. She is such a sweet girl. I have met her quite a few times now and love this girls personality. She greeted me at the gate and was tail wagging and jumping around. She followed me around as I cleaned the yard and then we went inside. She did not react toward any of the dogs in their kennels and went straight to her room. She went in with no problems.”

“Hello my name is Frank! I am a 10-year-old Pit Bull Terrier. I weigh 65 pounds and have been at the shelter for over one month. I’m looking for a special person to spend the rest of my life with.
I am a sweet older man who loves everyone I meet! Honestly, when you first meet me, you would never believe I'm 10! I have the heart and soul of a young dog. I am happy, wiggly, silly, and sweet. I love to spend time with my humans; being by their side is my favorite thing. I prefer a home with teens and adults. I have met dogs here but can be picky when I choose a new canine friend. I am housebroken and love to check out new toys. If you need someone to sample dog treats, I can definitely do the job! I am full of excitement and fun, and I have so many more adventures to go on.”

Phyllis couldn't possibly wait for Thursday to share the good news! After waiting for 357 days, Phyllis has found her forever home! This girl needs a very patient and understanding person, and today she officially found them! Phyllis is very loved by our staff and volunteers. I walk excellently on leash, I enjoy the sunshine and hearing about your day, and I have even met other dogs here for canine companionship. I am looking for a home where there are not any children. My next family should also have some pervious dog experience and be willing to do continued training with me. I would love to meet you and share more about myself!”

“Hi there, I'm Fern! I am very sweet and cute. I am two years old and weigh 45 pounds. My breed is English Coonhound mix. I have been at the shelter since July.
I was a stray, so not much is known about me. I came to the shelter in the hopes I might find a family to be all mine! I like to go on walks and enjoy the sunshine, and as a hound, I of course love to sniff all around!
Recently, I’ve spent some time in a foster home. My foster mom quickly realized that I think it’s really fun to try and reach the top of the fence. Because of that, I’ll need a home with a six-foot fence.”

“Worked on Recall with Fern while her kennel was being cleaned. She likes to stand up on you to grab her attention. I just ignored her when she did this and then gave her attention once she had all four paws on the ground. I walked around the yard and said "Fern, come here!" while holding a treat in my hand. A few times it was difficult to get her attention but once she realized there was cheese involved, she came right over. Other times she just wanted to follow me around.”

“Giddy-up my name is Cowboy! I blew into the shelter, rolling in with the tumbleweeds, looking for a place to hang my hat. I am a one-year-old neutered Australian Cattle Dog. I weigh 35 pounds and have been at the shelter since August.
I'm a quiet feller, shy, but loyal and true. I enjoy wandering the outdoors, letting my four paws take me where they may. I have a kind heart and a quick mind. Stop by and say hello if you have a cowboy soul like me. Like a true cowboy, I’m a bit of a loner. I like to be the only pet in my home.”

“I took Cowboy on a nice long walk today. I haven’t seen him in a while. I was able to leash him up easily and he ignored the other dogs as we were walking past them to head out the door. Once outside he was great on a leash, and he wasn't pulling at all. I did a few rounds of sit with him while we were out there, and he did very well with it.”

“Hello! My name is Zoey! I’m a seven-year-old Beagle mix. I weigh 50 pounds and have been at the shelter since April 16. That’s over 145 days of waiting for my forever family!
I’ve been learning a lot of new things recently, like how to walk nicely on a leash or how to use a crate! I’m also learning ‘drop it’. To be honest, I have a habit of stealing things that aren’t mine, especially shoes. The staff at the shelter are helping me with this and, so far, it’s going great! They know that I don’t do it to be mean. I’m so glad that they understand me!
There is another thing you should know about me… I want to be the center of your world. That means I cannot live with young children or other animals. I’m very devoted to my people and don’t want to share them!
Here’s what a staff member has to say about training with Zoey:
“I had a toy for Zoey to play with while we were out in the yard. I would toss it on the floor, and she would pick it up and then I would say ‘drop it’ and she actually dropped it on the first command. I made sure to reward her heavily for this! I was able to repeat this same process for 5 reps. A couple times she did try to pick up the toy again after I said ‘drop it’ but after the second time she was able to drop it again and leave it on the ground. She did great with this!”

“Hi there, I’m Nova! I’m a four-year-old, 54-pound, Pit Bull Terrier mix. Can you believe that I’ve been at the shelter for over a month? It may be crazy to believe, but it’s true!
Like a lot of my dog friends, I can be shy at first, but I warm up quickly! Once I get to know you, you’ll find out that I am super playful! I love all types of toys and games. I even go to doggy playgroup every day! I have also spent time with kids before and have done well with them. I really am the whole package!"

“Hi there, I’m Bluebell! I’m a lovely little lady looking for my forever home. I am spayed, five-years-old and weigh seven pounds. I have been at the shelter since June. The staff here call me a Domestic Shorthair, but I think my breed should be Goodest Tiny Baby Cat.
There is something you should know about me … I have Feline Leukemia. It’s sad, I know. I try to stay positive, but sometimes it’s hard. I get looked over at the shelter due to my illness. When that is all people see, they miss out on what a nice cat I am!
I love any sort of attention! Cuddles, pets, being held – you name it! I’m a fun girl who’s just looking for the right person to take me home!”

“I got to spend some time with Bluebell today! I sat on the floor in front of her kennel and opened the door. She came out and immediately laid in my lap. She was making biscuits and rubbing all over. I really don’t know why she’s still here, she’s such a sweet girl! If you don’t have any cats that have tested negative for FeLV, she would be perfect!”
