It's still early spring, but we have the raised beds planted inside our high-tunnel and averaging a 80F-90F during the days and high 30's for the nights. The sun power is all we are using at present for the heat.

It seems to be working well as many of the root vegetables are starting to emerge. As the season moves to warmer nights the other vegetables will begin their emergence as well.

We have had several inquires on how we will sell produce this year and we are leaning toward the idea (suggested by several customers) of offering boxed veggies/herbs or the week for pickup.

Let us know how you would prefer to buy.

For those asking on chicken eggs, they will be later in the season as a new starter flock will be our producers this year. We are relocating our coops to a fresh pasture in the next few weeks to be ready for the growing chicks.

We want to thank everyone for their business this season, we appreciate all our returning customers and those that became customers this year.

The hens have decided they need a break from all the work. They will be back in the spring, with many new friends to bring more fresh eggs.

We are also working to plan out the greenhouse growing and pumpkin patch planning for 2024.

Look forward to seeing everyone past and new in 2024.

We are putting a pause on selling vegetables. Unfortunately this year some unexpected circumstances came up and we were unable to continue with the work as we had done years past.

We are still expecting to sell pumpkins in the fall as we have done though so look for this to start in mid/late September.

We still have eggs for sale but with the heat the chickens are taking it easy and not producing much (they do deserve breaks! 😀)

The harvest is starting to come in and we just put out fresh zucchini, tomatoes, and sweet 🫑

Stop by and grab some, prices are listed. We will put more out as the demand requests as we want to ensure fresh produce.

The pumpkin fields are growing very well at this point for an October harvesting.

Eating a healthy breakfast is quick (10 min) and easy using our fresh eggs and other locally sourced products.

Fresh eggs happening daily now as the hens love the longer daylight. They are hitting 4-5 dozen a day over the last few days.
We have been selling out each day of the 4-5 dozen.
We have 4 dozen in the porch fridge, another 4 in the inside fridge and about 5 dozen we just picked up from the coops which will be washed and ready for later today.
Stop by at your leisure and get some fresh eggs. If the fridge is empty please knock as we may have some inside, if we run out for the day we will leave a note on the fridge.

We have set the fridge back up on the front porch and while the hens are not consistent daily yet, we do have 4 dozen in the fridge and hopefully another 2-3 dozen by later today.

We will post when we have additional supply until the hens are back at full production. So check here first before stopping by.

Happy Sunny Winter morning. The temperature is at 22F here this morning with the sun rising and an expected high of 43F today.

The hens and roosters were tired of being cooped up (pun intended) after the last week of sun zero temps and wind chills.

While they were nestled in their insulated coops, we even added straw for extra warmth on top of our PittMoss bedding to ensure they were warm and comfy, they and the coops needed some fresh air today.
Opened all their doors to let it air out and they received more warm water and a food refill in their feeding buckets and a few extra bowls.

Many of them hit the 55gallon feeding drums in the back instead of waiting their turn in line of the buckets in the coops.

While the 5gallon bucket coozie kept the hot water we put in from freezing solid, the water did garner some ice over the week, so adding an occasional 1 gallon of hot water to it, seems to have kept in well.

Chickens use to being out everyday had a tough week of being locked up for their own safety. Hopefully the extreme cold temps are behind us, but even so the ground is too frozen for them to forage, so they will have access to feed during these few cold months.

They definitely are not producing any eggs and likely won’t until we get steady spring temps.

We had the honor to host Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture today with Secretary Russell Redding and the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs with Brigadier General Mark Goodwill stopping by to tour the farm,
Listen to the challenges small farms here in PA have in bringing product to market, and present the PA Veteran Farming Project and Community Partnership of Butler with grants that will facilitate in helping Veteran Farmers realize their dreams in Agriculture and Agri-Business.

If anyone is interested in purchasing fresh pastured Turkey please let us know. We have 3 turkeys remaining that are available and will go early Sat morning to the processor and need picked up Saturday early evening.

The price is $5 /lb and the birds should be 15-25 pounds once processed.

First 3 direct messages we receive will be sold. Please DM us your name, phone (so we can call you as we leave processor), and that you want a Turkey.

We are almost out of the Jumbo (40+lb) white Polar Bear pumpkins AND we are almost out of the baby pumpkins!

We have about 8 jumbo left and about 150 baby pumpkins left.

After this all we will have is large and medium pumpkins.

As fall is upon us, the pumpkin 🎃 stand continues to sell the many pumpkins grown here on the farm. Now is the perfect time to pickup your pumpkins for decorating or carving later in October.

We have had many inquiries on the maple syrup and honey. Good news the maple syrup is now on the porch right by the egg refrigerator. These are in our commemorative Forever Heart Farm bottles, each of the 7 varying bottles that has our logo and one type of the farm animal we have raised or continue to raise here on the farm. Reuse the decorative bottles for flower vases or many other creative projects.

The syrup is Bourbon aged maple, bottle ld for us by our friends Hill Maple Farm, another veteran owned Agri business.

Honey should be here in another 2 weeks.

Eggs are still happening, but our hens have slowed down as they prepare for fall/winter with the shorter days.
