Another breeder was just recently murdered - and had puppies stolen. This time it was a Doberman breeder. Please pray for their family and friends. (link below)
If you feel you need to be allowed into a breeder’s home you know they’re legitimate, you are sorely mistaken. It will never be worth risking my life or more importantly, my family’s lives.
We understand that you don’t want to be taken by a scam. That’s perfectly understandable. Here is a list of things that YOU can do to help protect you from getting taken that do not put my family at risk:
1. They should absolutely be willing to have a phone conversation with you.
2. They should be willing to FaceTime with you and show you their puppies and the dam. People DO frequently use outside studs, so not having the stud on site is absolutely NOT a red flag. 🚩
3. They should be willing to give you the name of their vet clinic and allow you to call the vet to confirm that the vet sees their dogs/puppies. YOU should look up the vet clinic online to verify that there’s a listing for the clinic and that it’s a valid veterinary clinic - not a friend of theirs answering your call with, “XYZ Veterinary Clinic, how may I help you?”.
4. There should be actual people who own dogs that this breeder produced who will be willing to speak with someone about their personal experience with the breeder.
5. They should be able and willing to provide verifiable proof of health testing and health certifications that they claim to have done on ANY animal they are breeding. OFA has a way to search by registered name or registration number. Some DNA testing places also have links to DNA results that the breeder can provide.
