Meet Petey. He’s one of our heartworm positive dogs, so he’ll be with us a little while. But Petey is an amazing boy, very chill and pretty smart. He’s going to make someone a great forever friend. We’ll keep you posted on his progress.

Five years ago, I was asked to step in and get the Allendale County Animal Shelter straightened out. It was not in a good place. I never dreamed that I would stay there five years.
In those five years, so many improvements have been made. The community, both on the local level as well as the greater rescue community, really stepped up. There are too many of you to thank by name.
I finally felt like it was good time to turn things back to the county, so today was my last day as shelter manager.
Consequently, Partners for Pets is going back to its roots. We will be pulling dogs from the shelter, like this little girl here who was terrified in the shelter setting. So we will need fosters for pups like her as well as heartworm positive dogs as they go through hw treatment.
We will be really pushing our Operation Spay/Neuter to prevent unwanted litters from being born. That will require your financial support.
There’s lots of work to be done. I hope you’ll join me for the ride. 🐶❤️- Linda, PfP Chairman

The Allendale County Animal Shelter needs your help! Partners for Pets pays for all vetting and food for the shelter dogs. Shelter and rescue has been at a standstill for the past couple of years, and these dogs are stuck. They are all fully vetted and ready to go. Help us find them forever homes. We believe in them. We have invested in them. They have been let down by their humans. Let's show them that they matter. Share this post like crazy and let's make some magic happen. If you can help, message us here.

Every single kennel run at the Allendale County Animal Shelter is full, including our new intake runs. We are at critical mass. Tommy is the most perfect dog. He was abandoned by his owners last summer along with a treeing walker female, who went to rescue. Tommy loves other dogs. He doesn’t soil his run until he absolutely has to. He is fully vetted and heartworm negative. Let’s get this perfect dog a perfect home. Message me for details.

URGENT
Clyde is the longest resident of the Allendale County Animal Shelter. He was dumped in the country last summer with a female hound we named Bonnie. She found her forever home almost immediately with one of our volunteers. Unfortunately we have been unable to find the same for Clyde. He is such a sweetheart. But he has a lot of strikes against him. He's heart worm positive. We have been treating him via slow kill. While he has some age on him, he isn't old enough for the senior rescues I've reached out to. He's a lively guy who deserves to live. He might not hunt, but I'm pretty sure he'll be your best friend. These are tough times in rescue. The dogs keep coming in. Please help me save Clyde. Share. Share. Share. Send me a DM for more info. Clyde is neutered and up to date on all shots and preventatives.

Tomorrow is the start of a new chapter for the Allendale County Animal Shelter. We will have a paid staff of three! I will be training two kennel assistants.
Just to show you that far we have come, I started as a volunteer through Partners for Pets of Allendale County in 2010.
Until 2019, Animal Control and prison inmates took care of the shelter.
As a volunteer, I worked with about a dozen animal control officers in those nine years.
The shelter is fortunate now to have a caring Animal Control officer and a sheriff that supports our mission of saving one dog at a time.
