Hey Pack Leaders. Please help Finn find her forever home.

Hi! My name is Finn, and Iโ€™m looking for my forever home. Let me tell you a little about myself:
- **Breed**: Australian Shepherd /husky mix
- **Age**: 1 year young
- **Size**: Medium, approx 25lbs
- **Personality**: Friendly (but nervous around new people and experiences, Energetic,Loyal, affectionate (but not a lap dog)
- **Special Skills or Traits**: House-trained, knows basic commands, walks great on a leash.

I love playing catch, always up for walks and runs, and Iโ€™m happiest when Iโ€™m around people who care about me.

I want to bond with that one special person, but for reasons my current owner can explain better, I have to be an only dog.
Iโ€™m looking for a forever home with someone who can give me love, attention, lots of exercise, continue working on my training and a cozy place to call my own. In return, Iโ€™ll give you a lifetime of tail wags, loyal companionship, and unconditional love.

Hi, my name is Stefanie, and I am Finns person.

We took Finn in when she was about 5 months old. We thought she was going to best friends with our other 2 dogs. But, Finn has quite the dominant personality and our other 2 are very submissive. Finn does not get along with the other female in the home. She also has some resource guarding behaviors to work with.

We (my husband and I) have been working with everyone to come together and live peacefully.

That, unfortunately is not working.

Working with our vet and having a professional trainer come to our home to evaluate our situation, it's been determined that Finn would thrive as an only dog.

She is currently not spayed (that procedure will be done the first week of April) and it's possible she may calm a bit after that, but we believe, she may never fully be able to live in peace in a multi dog household.

All I want for her, is to live a long, happy life. And to do that, it's best to find her a new home.

If you think you're the right person for Finn, please reach out and I will provide any details you need, as well as vet records. A meet and greet will be required, we will also ask for your veterinarians contact details.

Feel free to reach out via email, call or text.

Our Story

Leader of the Pack Canine Institute is owned and operated by Lisa McDonald. Lisa has earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business with an Accounting Major from DeSales University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She has held positions in corporate accounting and controllership during her professional career and has successfully passed the Pennsylvania Certified Public Accountant exam. Lisa is also proud to have served in the military as she is a US Army veteran.

Lisa has earned and successfully completed knowledge assessment testing for certification as a professional dog trainer through the Certification Council For Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT-KA.). In addition to belonging to the CCPDT, Lisa is a Professional Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and a Professional Member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP). She is an Evaluator for the American Kennel Clubโ€™s Canine Good Citizen Award. Lisa continues to further her knowledge base by attending professional conferences, seminars and learning opportunities throughout the US. Her skill set and experience enable her to work with all breeds, sizes and temperaments of the canine family.

Lisa has a large family pack of six dogs including, five Rottweilerโ€™s and a Chihuahua mix.One of Lisaโ€™s pack, Diesel, is a Rottweiler. Diesel is a very special training dog at LOPCI. Diesel works with Lisa and John in their dog aggression/reactivity training sessions. Diesel displays very calm, balanced and assertive energy that dogs naturally respect. This is the energy that a natural โ€œPack Leaderโ€ would display. Diesel is a great canine communicator to other dogs in which he displays โ€œcalming signalsโ€ or non aggressive intent signals to bring the reactive dogs in to a calm, trusting, sub threshold state of mind. This is the beginning of the rehabilitation process.

As a canine behavior specialist, Lisa believes in using a balanced approach that uses positive reinforcement techniques. By leading the dog into the proper decision thru consistently marking the behavior in a timely manner, we can create conditioned responses to our cues. Timely reinforcement, displaying calm and confident energy and being consistent in our words and actions will help the dog learn without being forced into a position or command. It is her belief that dogs learn faster when given the opportunity to make the proper decisions on their own, instead of being forced or placed into a position for a quick response. Her lifelong experience, along with her years of studying canine behavior and psychology has given Lisa the ability to teach families how to respond timely to their petโ€™s behavior and reinforce the proper action for the proper response. This is also how the pet family will earn the trust and respect needed to be seen as the human pack leaders inside the home. Lisaโ€™s mission in life is to teach as many human pack leaders as possible and create happy and balanced dogs, one leader at a time.
