Clyde Peeling's Reptiland is an AZA accredited zoo specializing in reptiles and amphibians from around the world! Explore the realm of mambas, cobras, vipers, pythons, and other rare and beautiful snakes. Experience giant alligators, gentle tortoises, curious lizards, and colorful frogs. See the world's largest lizard--the Komodo dragon--in a state-of-the-art habitat. Stunning naturalistic habitat

s, fun interactive exhibits, live shows, and hands-on animal encounters make Reptiland an educational adventure for the whole family! The indoor exhibit gallery houses more than 40 species in recreated natural habitats, and Island Giants showcases giant Aldabra tortoises and our Komodo dragons–the world’s largest lizards. Dinosaurs Come to Life is an outdoor, animatronic dinosaur adventure, and Parakeet Landing offers an immersive experience surrounded by hundreds of beautiful budgies--both open year-round. During the warmer months, tortoises and aquatic turtles live in outdoor habitats, and seasonal events make for an even more exciting family destination. A visit to Reptiland explodes common myths and inspires scientific curiosity. Amazing animals, personal attention, and friendly experts--an intimate wildlife connection! The average Reptiland visit requires about 2 hours, but there is no limit to the length of a visit. The exhibits are self-guided, and it’s generally best to arrive just before a show.

Just two best friends! 🐍

The cottonmouth, also known as the water moccasin, is famous for the white, cotton-like interior of its mouth, which it displays when threatened. These venomous snakes are native to the southeastern United States and are semiaquatic, meaning they spend a lot of time in water.

While they have a fearsome reputation, cottonmouths are generally shy and prefer to avoid humans. Remember, if you see one in the wild, admire from a distance and let them be. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem. 🌎

When you’re on high alert protecting your greens from lunchtime invaders 🥗🐢🍴

Say hello to one of nature’s most dazzling creations, the star tortoise (Geochelone elegans)! Their name comes from the intricate star patterns found on their shell, making them easily identifiable and even aids in camouflage. Found in the dry regions of India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, these tortoises are as resilient as they are beautiful.

It’s peak bellowing season for American alligators! Alligators can bellow year round, but spring is mating season, so you’re more likely to hear them. The first day of Zoo Camp is in just over a month. Now is the time to register your young adventurer! Campers will learn about reptiles and amphibians and their care, while exploring the inner workings of a modern AZA zoo. That’s a big meal for such a little guy! Don’t worry, with a bit of work, they got it all down 😁

Someone get the lady a step stool! You may have seen our yellow footed tortoises on exhibit, but did you know this particular female loves to attempt an escape mission every time the keepers clean the indoor exhibit? If she’s lucky, another tortoise will check on her efforts and “allow” her to use them as a boost. Not that she needs the help! She’s made her way out without assistance plenty of times. After a walk to the behind the scenes area and around the Madagascar exhibit, she enjoys hanging out in the middle of the gallery and becoming a tripping hazard for her keepers. Sometimes, she’s even joined by her roommate, Pabst the rhino iguana - when he’s not trying to eat ankles…
