While we may want our pets to enjoy Thanksgiving the same way that we do, letting them share our feast isn’t always best for them. This holiday, please be mindful of what (and how much!) your pet is eating to avoid toxicity, gastrointestinal issues, and pancreatitis.

The Animal Center will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th to allow our staff to enjoy the holiday with their families. Please plan accordingly if you need pet food or prescription refills. We will resume normal business hours on Saturday, November 30th.

Does your pet have firework anxiety? Did you know that there are options for helping to manage their anxiety during the upcoming holiday?

The July 4th holiday is quickly approaching, which means that now is the time to start discussing the available options to help make this time of year easier on your pet. Many of these options require either a trial period or several doses to be effective, so don’t wait until the last minute!

Warmer weather means the start of insect-transmitted viruses, including West Nile Virus. Are you taking steps to keep yourself and your horses safe?

WNV is transmitted from infected birds to mosquitos, which can then bite and transmit the virus to humans and horses. Taking precautions to reduce mosquitoes on your property, such as wearing insect repellant, draining standing water, and being vigilant about disposing of any dead birds, can help to keep both you and your horses safe.

Horses can also be vaccinated with an approved vaccine to protect against WNV. If your horse has never been vaccinated against WNV, it is recommended to administer a booster 3 weeks after the initial vaccination. If your horse has previously received the vaccine, a booster in late spring or early summer is recommended.
