I've been a little laxed with my posting lately but I've been meaning to get this sweet little gem formally introduced.
Everyone, please say hello to our newest resident, Cheyenne ❤️
Little Miss Cheyenne has only been with us for about a month but has settled in nicely. The first week was pretty rough for her mentally and emotionally but she's made such amazing progress in the short time she's been here.
As much as I'd love to go into details regarding Cheyenne's story and how she found her way to us, I'm going to refrain from the details as a courtesy to the former individuals that were responsible for this horse. Which to be quite honest, really don't deserve any courtesy in my opinion especially knowing now what I know to be true as far as the physical and mental treatment of this horse.
Moving forward, leaving the past in the past and looking towards a brighter future, Cheyenne does have some emotional hurdles we're helping her overcome. She's a tough little girl with a heart of gold and so much love to give and we're showing it's ok to let herself be loved, it's ok to make mistakes, and it's ok to have an "off" kind of day.
Cheyenne had gone from being a step up horse for a child, yes.... a child and a previous owner trusted this horse with a child (I'm just putting things into perspective here) but she was a little too forward moving. That was her only flaw and really it isn't a flaw at all. She was then sold to a home where her expectation was to be a safe trail horse. Her story should have ended there with a future full of adventures and bliss. In less than 2 weeks the horse must have transformed into a fire breathing dragon that resulted in her arriving here a cowering, trembling, mess due to physical pain and fear. Enough said on that note before my mouth gets me into trouble.
Our promise to Cheyenne is help her overcome her trauma. The physical pain is gone, the mental and emotion pain is not but every day she she improves with showing more trust with human touch and she's regaining the confidence in herself that was lost. She's not being forced, or expected, to be something she's not ready to be. But the signs are there daily that she's letting her guard down and is ready to put her best foot forward. She has a beautiful mind and a beautiful heart and I have zero doubts that this little horse will bounce back and shine brighter than she ever has before. She shows the NEED to be loved on, to interact with people, and to be useful. Her personality is sweet, soft and gentle, and she truly aims to please.
Cheyenne is going make a wonderful addition to the life of someone with a gentle hand and heart made just for her. She deserves that and nothing less.
She will remain at Phoenix until her person comes along. She has a safe place here and a place to call home until her time is right.
Welcome to the family Little Miss Cheyenne. We are honored to have you join our herd. ❤️
