Good evening everyone. We will continue to be closed tomorrow =( the kennel is a toasty 65 degrees with the heater but we still have no power or water. We are hoping tomorrow will be the day and we can get back to normal. Thank you for your patience everyone.

For those of you without power still, you are not alone and are in our hearts. This has proven to be very frustrating and challenging but watching our community support one another is very heartwarming.

Thank you, Wok 'n' Otaku and Boom Town Roasters for washing my blankies! Auntie Erica said I was starting to smell like feet! We do not have power but all my friends are making sure we are well and warm! Hopefully soon we will be able to see them again.

My foster brothers and I wanted to say thank you to Chad and Haley Haneckow for helping Auntie move the big trees out of the yard, those big things kinda scared me and I didn't want to play with them there.

I'll update everyone tomorrow, but my night night stuffed Kong is calling my name!

Update: No changes. Still no power, water or heat, but very grateful to everyone reaching out to us to help. 💙 We will not be scheduling anything until we know power is back on and everything is clean and we can provide full service to the standards your dog deserves!

For those of you in the same boat, stay positive and know we are thinking of you and miss all of our furry friends. Also, shout out to Fritz, Enzo, and their momma, Tracey Schmidt Pederson, for letting me use their shower (it was magical)!

We are still with out power today so we will continue to focus on the safety and well being of our current guests and will not be open for daycare or new boarders until at least Thursday. Hello friends. We hope everyone is safe and warm. It's been a crazy couple days. As of right now we will not be providing daycare until at least Wednesday, maybe longer if power is not restored by tomorrow. Please text us if you have any questions.

🐾 MAY 3, 2025 @ 11AM

🐾 All dogs must have Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations. Price of the course $150. The first class is for owners only and students register at that time.

🐾 This class will run every Saturday (with the exception of Memorial Day Weekend) thru June 14, 2025 - weather permitting. We will prepare you to take the optional AKC Canine Good Citizen Test during this class.

My name is Erica and I have been training, grooming, babysitting, and rehabilitating dogs for 15 years. I began working and learning at this kennel when I was twelve years old under Janet Olson (a very knowledgeable, titled instructor and groomer). I moved on to college, worked at shelters and for veterinarians, and even had a really great desk job at one point! However, my heart always called me back to the Canine Care kennel -- the kennel that feels like home--where every dog is a part of my family. Janet has given me the amazing opportunity to take over for her and I am honored to give all the dogs in Northern Michigan the absolute best care. I am Pet CPR certified and frequently seek continuing education in my field. Our kennel is double fenced and attended 24 hours a day. The safety, health, and happiness of your pet is my number one priority.
