Romeo: White with eye patch. He is the smallest of the litter and one of the calmer ones, but he likes to explore. He is brave and affectionate.

Dante: Brindle boy. Wants to be the center of attention and always ready to play. He gives a great snuggle when sleepy.

Once again, Alpena Animal Control will be letting the dogs pick their own toys for Christmas. We will have an empty crate set up in our shop thru December, and our goal is to fill it all the way to the top with doggie toys for them. If you bring in a dog toy to help us fill the crate, you'll get to put your name in for a chance to win 1 of 3 Chewy gift cards! It is truly a happy, heartwarming moment for everyone to watch the dogs pick out something of their very own. For a lot of the dogs there, it is probably the most exciting moment of their lives up until that point. P.S. We know it's early, but want everyone to get a chance to participate next time they bring their dog to hang out with us =)

My name is Erica and I have been training, grooming, babysitting, and rehabilitating dogs for 15 years. I began working and learning at this kennel when I was twelve years old under Janet Olson (a very knowledgeable, titled instructor and groomer). I moved on to college, worked at shelters and for veterinarians, and even had a really great desk job at one point! However, my heart always called me back to the Canine Care kennel -- the kennel that feels like home--where every dog is a part of my family. Janet has given me the amazing opportunity to take over for her and I am honored to give all the dogs in Northern Michigan the absolute best care. I am Pet CPR certified and frequently seek continuing education in my field. Our kennel is double fenced and attended 24 hours a day. The safety, health, and happiness of your pet is my number one priority.
