As we were leaving the clinic last night Emily noticed this friend crossing our driveway. This is a Blanding's Turtle, an endangered species due to population fragmentation. The Blanding's Turtle make their home in the wetlands surrounding The Great Lakes. As much as we love to see cities grow, these turtles are losing their homes, being displaced, and unable to reproduce. If you come across a Blanding's Turtle, kindly leave it alone. If you find one in the road, please move it out of danger, place it in a safe spot in the direction it was headed in. Our new Assistant/Receptionist Rebecca placed our friend in the ditch, and it happily scooted off towards the woods behind the clinic.
