Now dubbed "Charming Charlie", this little man has an appetite for his Mom's feet, visitors and other things we have yet to dig into.

Within minutes of our visit I noticed trouble in Charlie's gate, which was confirmed to be an old injury... and looking back, the start of Charlie's "worst" behavior problems.

We will be working with Charlie's vet, and of course be doing behavior modification to help make both Charlie and his Mom more comfortable again.

“No one ever told me that the scars from dog bites would be nothing compared to the scars each dog leaves on our hearts when we think we failed them.”

Michael Shikashio, opened the Aggression in Dogs Conference with a reminder of the hidden weight so many professionals carry. Beyond the techniques and long hours, it is the stories that stay with us. The dogs trembling with fear. The guardians facing impossible choices. The nights we question if we did enough.

This community is where we remind each other that we are not alone in that weight. The work is difficult, but it matters deeply. And together we find the strength to keep showing up.

When i met this dog a month ago I couldn't get anywhere near him. Today, after just 5 sessions, he trusted me to take his leash and even give him a few scritches.

You can't force trust. You earn it. By listening to the dog in front of you.

This pint size cutie is Fawn! Fawn is available for adoption through Outcast Rescue! She is approximately 1 year, I'm guessing 30 (ish) pounds and a very friendly girl. She was picked up wandering the streets of Philly an emaciated mess just 2 months ago.

She met myself, my father and another friend with a happy wagging tail. She didn't make a peep at the horses and was super interested in meeting them. She explored the property with enthusiasm and was not bothered by the new noises and smells. She even tried to help with farm chores!

She is being fostered with other dogs and adores playing with them. She hasn't figured out the whole toy thing yet, but no doubt that will come along as she settles into life.

I am going to help her foster with some of the basic skills she needs to set her up for a wonderful forever home. Polite greetings and leash skills are my priority.

Y'all this dog is an absolute doll!! If you are looking for an easy dog with lots of personality, here she is!

Daisy is the perfect example of why I don't teach "obedience". Truthfully the word gives me the icks.

Daisy is what we would label as "leash reactive" she gets so excited when she sees another dog that she could pull her Mom right over.

Daisy is another dog that isn't "food motivated". While we have her reliably taking food on walks, she still isn't ready to take food when she is over threshold.

So, when the normal tricks don't work we had to find a way to bring her back into our world.

Daisy isn't big on "sit". Only she knows why. I will assume sit isn't the most comfortable position for her big lanky body. I'm not a big fan of stationary behaviors for our "reactive" dogs anyway. I'd rather let them move than stare.

What does Daisy do reliably that helps her reconnect with her human? She LEANS. Guess what. Once she leans.... she takes her rewards.

Work with the dog in front of you. There is no cookie cutter way to work with an individual.

Keep obedience for trials. Mad props to the teams successful in obedience trials! Y'all rock!

My clients, they can compromise and find what works and what they need from eachother.

Loving this teams progress.

I often joke with my shy and deeper voiced handlers that they don't have to have the same happy/ excited pitch for a job well done as I do... this is a beautiful example of communication between handler and dog.
Well done Pandora and Bravo officer!

Meet Fern, Mia and Pia! Missing Tex who was busy working with his Dad.

Multi-dog households are s boatload of fun... but chaos can often take over. Imagine every time you walk into the house 4 knuckle heads jumping all over you and eachother vying for your attention!

Getting their harnesses and leashes out sends the excitement lecel through the roof.

Once dressed, trying to get out the door without getting tripped or pulled over.

It's overwhelming! And where do you start with FOUR dogs!?!

For these guys, we started with some basics. An incompatible behavior for jumping like sit. Teaching the hoomans to reinforce appropriate behavior instead of focusing on no/ off/ down. Touch/ target to help them send their energy elsewhere.

Then, door manners and of course helping keep that energy level down while gearing up. Sorry kids, no more acting like fools before heading out!

With just a little guidance everyone learned "sit" within a week and they think touch is super fun.

BONUS! Fern is a very shy girl and is still fearful of her human adult brother and sister. Within a week, with just a few tips she is ALREADY getting more comfortable being around them!

Can't wait to see the progress for session three! Bravo to all!
