It’s that time of year again, Daylight Saving Time is here! ⏰ While we’re busy resetting clocks, have you ever wondered if your furry friend notices the time change? Spoiler: They definitely do! 🐶🐱

Pets thrive on routine, so that extra hour (or missing hour) can throw off their internal clock. Suddenly, dinner is “late,” walks feel “off,” and they’re giving you the look like, “Why are you still in bed?” 😂

Here’s how to help your pet adjust:
🍽️ Gradually shift meal times by 10-15 minutes each day.
🚶 Adjust walk and play schedules slowly to match the new time.
😴 Stick to their bedtime routine to keep them calm and cozy.

Does your pet notice the time change? Share their funniest reactions in the comments below! ⬇️

Say hello to the new owner of Alpharetta Animal Hospital! Far from being new, however, Pam remembers being a little girl sitting on the counter eating chili dogs while watching her dad, Dr. Hines, affectionately known as “Doc,” perform surgery on Alpharetta’s beloved pets. She not only watched what happened at AAH, she grew up working there as well - cleaning the runs, washing dogs and cats, and answering the phone among many other things. She is thrilled to carry on what her dad started in 1973. Alpharetta Animal Hospital has been an integral part of downtown Alpharetta for over 50 years and she plans to keep it that way. Dr. Hines built his practice by providing exceptional veterinary care and personalized customer service. Pam is determined to continue with those same values in the days ahead along with the support from the invaluable team of veterinarians and staff at AAH.

Think your short-haired pup doesn't need regular grooming? Or that bathing your cat too often is bad? 🐶🐱 Let's set the record straight!

One of the biggest pet grooming myths is that one size fits all, which is not at all correct. For example, wouldn't you know it, Golden Retrievers need regular brushing to remove the loose fur that prevents painful mats, and breeds such as Poodles require routine trims so their curly coats don't overgrow. And yes, even your cat may need a bath if they get into one of those sticky or odorous messes! 🛁

Proper grooming is a lot more than just merely looking good; it's the way to keep your pets healthy, comfortable, and, most importantly, happy. Not every pet is the same, though, and their grooming requirements will differ with breed, coat type, and lifestyle.

Did you know? One of the most famous household pets in history was Balto, the sled dog known for his heroic deed back in 1925! He guided his team through a blizzard in Alaska to deliver lifesaving medicine to the town of Nome. His bravery saved so many lives and earned him a statue in Central Park, NYC. 🗽🐾

Pets have always been something more than just companions—they're heroes, adventurers, and legends in their own right. 🌟

Does your older pet get a little stiff or uncomfortable during the cold months? Just like us, our furry friends can certainly feel it—especially if they have arthritis. But don't you worry: we do have some tips to make your senior pets comfortable this winter:

🔥 Warm up: Add extra blankets or heated pet beds in places your pet likes to snooze.
🚶‍♀️ Light exercise: A short, low-impact walk or indoor play gives them the opportunity to keep their joints moving without putting too much strain on them.
🐾 Slip-free zones: Rugs or non-slip mats will prevent slipping on smooth floors.
💊 Vet-recommended care: Consult your veterinarian regarding supplements, medications, or alternative modalities to help with joint health.

A little extra care goes a long way in keeping your senior pet happy and comfortable this season. 🐕❤️

Cats may be cool and act all independent, but just like the rest of us, they want some company! 🐾 If your kitty is over-grooming, meowing incessantly, or scratching up absolutely everything in sight, loneliness might be what it's feeling. 💔

Before you dive in and become a multi-cat household, here's what you should know:

✨ Observe your cat's behavior: Is it bored, lonely, or something else?
✨ Create a stimulating environment: Think climbing structures, hideouts, and interactive toys.
✨ Consider compatibility: If you adopt, it's best to find a cat whose personality matches your current fur baby.

Adding another cat can be life-changing for your pet's happiness, but it is a huge step, so go slow and set them up for success. 🏡💖
