Kate is our Pet of the Week this week!
Today is the last day to adopt Kate for only $50, half the regular adoption fee. Adoption includes, spay, heartworm test, microchip and all of the vaccines.
Kate came into the shelter on July 16th found running loose in the city limits of Alpine. Kate’s owner was contacted but unfortunately never came to reclaim her. Kate was adopted from the shelter previously back in 2020 from this shelter.
Kate does great with people and some other dogs, she has done very well in a group with Tank and Tigger who are 2 very large, male, pittie mixes. We were not sure at first how she would do with other dogs because she tends to act overly excited about them when there is a gate between them. She is a rough and rowdy player, so we suggest, if she does go into a home with another dog, that they match her energy, she wants to rough house! It’s actually a blast to watch too.
Kate does great on a leash especially when she is away from the hustle and bustle of the shelter. She seems to be potty trained; she keeps her kennel very clean and waits to be let out. Minimal potty training for this gal in her new home, she will likely do fantastic with a routine.
Kate loves her treats so if you come to visit make sure to bring her one! Come see her at the Alpin Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.

Little victories! Today a group of us met in Pecos to meet the Austin Pets Alive! transport team to get many dogs from several parts of west TX on to other rescues that are fortunate enough to have the space to take them and who find homes a lot quicker than we can in small west TX. Huge thank you to One Tail at a Time West Texas, One Tail at a Time Chicago and Austin Pets Alive! for putting this trip together. 2 of our Alpine dogs were selected to go and we could not be more thrilled for them. It was a pleasure sharing smiles and excitement with these wonderful people who, at times may not have this feeling working in rural shelters.
As exciting as this is, we would rather not have to do it so please spay and neuter!

Update! Mom is doing fantastic! She doesn’t seem to be as scared as she was the first couple of days. She met us at the door this morning, allowed us to move her pups and change her bedding while she had her breakfast. She’s eating treats out of our hand and allowing us to pet her. No doubt this little momma will turn into a fantastic companion for someone after her pups are weaned ❤️🐾❤️

By someone's forgetfulness one of the locker room doors was left open at Jackson Field Stadium. Mama dog had her puppies under the bleachers. Our Animal Control Officers where able to get Mama dog and her 7 puppies out safely. Now they are at the animal shelter. By the way she was the big pregnant dog that has been spotted around town. If she's yours or you recognize her please contact us at 432-837-9030 or 432-837-3486.

She was picked up yesterday. If she is yours or you recognize her please contact us at 432-837-9030 or 432-837-3486.

Luna is our Pet of the Week this week!
Today is the last day to adopt Luna for only $50, half the normal adoption fee.
Luna came into the shelter with her sister Daisy on July 16th, 2024. Their owner never reclaimed them and actually came and officially surrendered both dogs a little over a week later.
Luna does great with other dogs, we introduced her to a large play group recently and she has done wonderfully! Luna loves meeting new people, she will sit and wag her little petite pittie body until you pet her. Just the sweetest little demeaner.
Luna keeps her kennel clean and will wait to be let out to potty. She knows sit, shake and stay, she is very treat motivated!
This little pittie also loves to play in the pool, she does prefer the shallow end since she is a bit vertically challenged.
Come meet this sweet girl today at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Hwy Alpine, TX 79830.
