Willow and Forest had an important vet visit yesterday at U of I Large Animal Clinic.

They both received a full wellness check, hoof and tusk trims, vaccines, and were issued their CVIs! The vet also confirmed that they are at a good place with their weight gain journey!!
This made us extremely happy!

One very surprising thing is that we found out that not only is Forest neutered but that Willow is also already spayed!! This was incredible news. They didn't have to undergo any surgery.

We will be putting the money we budgeted for their surgeries towards new house accommodations for them at their forever home. We will still have to fundraise more to cover the full expense of their new house, but at least this gives us a bit of a jump start.

Willow and Forest were pretty stressed throughout the visit. But they are back at their foster home with April now, decompressing and getting pampered with treats and new blankets.

A huge thank you to Nicole of who went with April on the day trip to U of I.

Chicago Friends! Dont forget to stop in to .kitchen during the rest of February! 🍩🐷❤️

Liberation Kitchen will be donating 50% of Jan/Feb sales of their Total Liberation donut to CPR!! Total Liberation is a delicious lemon poppy flavored donut.

These funds will go directly toward supporting our mission of saving more lives!! 🥹❤️

Liberation Kitchen also brought back the Finn's Fave donut during our January and February partnership!!

Finn's Fave is their maple glazed, vegan bacon-dusted donut named after our CPR pig Finn! 🐷❤️🍩

We might be a little biased, but this is our favorite donut ever!!! 🥰

🚨 New Rescue- Nala

We were contacted in early November about a large breed piglet that was found tied up to a light pole in Franklin Park, IL, in the middle of the night.

That's right.. TIED TO A LIGHT POLE AND ABANDONED!

Police found the piglet and reached out to Chicago Bird Collision, who picked up the sweet piggy but had nowhere for her to go.

We immediately jumped into action and started coordinating with Annette of Chicago Bird Collision. Our amazing volunteer Grace stepped up right away to short-term foster Nala while we worked on a longer-term solution for her. Sarah, another one of our awesome volunteers, picked Nala up from Annette and transported her to Grace. Sarah and April then helped Grace set up her foster space, especially for Nala.

Nala spent a couple of days with Grace before heading to her long-term foster we had set up for her with the wonderful Cristina Monnet.

Nala was transported by 2 of our new volunteers Lisa and Jess to a vet appointment in November to receive ivermectin and vaccines and to be tested for PRRS and Mycoplasma. She tested negative for PRRS, but she did test positive for Mycoplasma. Cristina kept Nala in quarantine while she was positive for mycoplasma.

Nala also has an ear deformity that we suspect is from past trauma before she was rescued. Though it still looks painful, it doesn't bother her anymore!

Luckily, when Nala was re-tested in December, Nala was negative for Mycoplasma! Now that Nala has recovered, she is ready to be spayed! Her spay appointment is set for this coming Friday!

She has been absolutely thriving at her foster home. Cristina reports she is a sweet, spunky, and energetic girl who just loves love!!

Helping Nala go from being abandoned to receiving the love and care she deserves is the best feeling in the world.
We adore Nala so much!

Thank you so much for everyone who made this rescue possible from Chicago Bird Collision to all of our CPR volunteers. It definitely takes a village. ❤️

FOLLOWERS PLEASE READ ‼️

We hate making this post but unfortunately there are 2 fake Venmo accounts pretending to be our non-profit. One account is using an extra “e” at the end of our name and one account is using a “_” at the end of our name.

Please make sure when you are donating money to Chicagoland Pig Rescue that our non-profit name is spelt correctly with no extra symbols. We so apologize for the inconvenience. We have reported the two accounts and would appreciate if others reported them too.

If you are Eva who donated to the one fake account by accident 2 days ago please reach out to us!

As always, thank you for your continued support. It means the world. 🐽

Dexter Update ❤️

Yesterday, Dexter went to U of I Large Animal Clinic for a wellness check. He has been having some blood in his stool, and we wanted to get that checked out immediately.

His f***l sample came back clear, and his blood work also came back looking good! The doctor thinks the blood in his stool might just be from being dehydrated. So we are working on putting more water in his food and giving him hydrating fruits & veggies (like cucumbers and watermelon).

Dexter was also given ivermectin, vaccines, a dental exam, and a hoof & tusk trim. He also received meloxicam to start addressing some early onset arthritis.

However, given his age, the vet said he is in great health and presents like a much younger pig!
Dexter definitely has some good years left ahead of him.. (and he still is waiting for someone to apply to be his forever home!!)

Dexter's foster mom, Annie, drove Dexter to and from his appointment and covered the bill for this vet visit!
We are so appreciative of this because we have many expenses adding up with our current caseload.

Annie has been doing an absolutely amazing job helping Dexter through his grieving process.
If you remember from a few posts ago, Dexter's owner loved him VERY much, but she tragically passed away, leaving Dexter behind.
Watching a companion animal grieve for their owner is extremely heartbreaking. Though we are comforted by working with Annie and knowing that Dexter is being INCREDIBLY cared for in his foster home! ❤️

If you are interested in adopting Dexter, send us a message and fill out our adoption application! You can find that application on our website!

Thank you to everyone who donated yesterday to Willow and Forest's medical needs!

We raised about $100 so far, but we expect their total bill to be around $1200 ‼️😬

We hate to be asking for funds while so much is going on in the world right now, but these babies are in need, and we have committed to helping them survive..
So here we are asking again. If you are able to contribute even a couple of dollars, that will help us out so much! 🙏

🚨 New Rescue 🚨

Meet Forest and Willow!

Forest and Willow were found as strays after being dumped in a hunting area in Coal City, IL, during the recent dangerously cold weather.

The couple who picked up the pigs took them into their garage. Both pigs were extremely emaciated and shaking badly. Because of their condition, the couple reached out to us in need of support.

Within the next 24 hours, we picked up Forest and Willow and began an intensive care routine.
We were especially worried about Willow, who was barely eating and very weak.

It has taken weeks of diligent foster care, but slowly, both pigs have been gaining strength and gaining healthy weight!!
There have been many tears of relief as we witnessed these two turning a corner.

Now we need your support!!
In order to continue to give them the care they deserve. Forest and Willow have a vet appointment at the University of Illinois Large Animal Clinic on Monday, February 10th. They will receive a wellness check and also be evaluated to see if they’ve put on enough healthy weight to be spayed and neutered. If they are cleared, they will both be fixed on Tuesday the 11th.

Please help us fund their health care!!
Small donations add up, and all donations are tax deductible.

CPR Family, I'm logging on to ask you to rally with me for our dear friends at No Swine Left Behind !
Today they suffered a tremendous loss of a whole shelter due to a fire!
The total loss (shelter, insulation, and other materials) is estimated to be about $5,000..
THANKFULLY, no animals were hurt in the fire!!
But this is a huge hit to a sanctuary who works tirelessly for the pigs in their care. NSLB is home to many CPR alumni. We have seen first hand, time and time again, just how special NSLB is to our sanctuary community.

PLEASE, please help by donating if you are able.
It also helps to share their donation information around on social media!
Thank you!

Meet Dexter!

Dexter is a 12.5 year old Potbelly Pig who has found himself homeless through no fault of his own. Dexter had a wonderful owner who loved him very much. However, she suddenly tragically passed away, leaving Dexter on his own. Dexter was such a loyal companion that he was lying next to his owner when she was found.

Dexter has lived his whole life as an indoor pig with one owner. So understandably, he is in mourning. He has been spending his days with a foster mom trying to heal his broken heart.

His foster mom says that Dexter is a VERY good boy! He pees and poops outside and has not had one accident inside! He’s very tidy! Dexter loves to have his ears scratched, and his back and belly brushed. He loves a soft bed and spends much of the day asleep under warm blankets.

Dexter would love to find a home where he can continue to heal his heart and live out his days as an indoor pig. He’s a large potbelly, but don’t let his size hold you back….Dexter just wants to sleep and be loved. He’s still learning to trust after losing his one and only companion, but with little TLC, this boy will steel your heart. If you have room in your home and heart, Dexter will not let you down. ❤️

If you are interested in adopting Dexter, please contact us at [email protected]
And fill out our adoption application that can be found on our website!
