We cannot believe Drummer has not been tagged. He has been with us several weeks now. He is such an adorable smaller fella! He also has the most gorgeous eyeliner. 😍

If you like sweet, goofy pups, Cocoa is your girl!! She is around 7-8 months old and the sweetest soul. Cocoa has floppy ears and big ol’ feet, even
though she isn’t very big herself. (30ish pounds) She is friendly to everyone, and would love to find a new place to stay!

Minnie is an older girl (8-9 years old) and desperately needs a place outside of animal control. She obviously was not well taken care of wherever she came from, and deserves the best! She is very friendly and is fine with other dogs.

If you have space for Minnie, please let us know ASAP so we can move our ol’ gal out of here!!

Alton AC needs your help! All SIX of these dogs need rescue ASAP! 6️⃣ dogs off stray hold!

1. Minnie- 8-9 years old. Friendly, calm older gal. Dog friendly.

2. Gary- large shepherd mix. Around 1 years old. Sweet boy who LOVES attention.

3. Camo- 7 months- typical pup- friendly with everyone

4. Cocoa- 7 months- typical goofy pup- came in with Camo

5. Drummer- around 1 years old- 35 ish pounds. Smaller, friendly guy

6. Comet- larger boys around 5 years old. Dog and people friendly. Walks with a slight limp at times.

Please share and tag rescue people! We really need to move some of these pups ASAP!!

We are unsure if any of them are cat friendly as we do not currently have any cats to test them with.

🚨🚨MEDICAL RESCUE NEEDED 🚨🚨

PLEASE HELP US HELP COMET!!

Our big ol wiggle butt, Comet, needs to get into rescue ASAP so he can have his leg evaluated. We believe he was hit by a car. He does not seem to be in extreme pain but is definitely uncomfortable.

Comet is already neutered and is dog friendly. We think he is around 5 years old! He has loved all people he has met.

Don’t be a jerk this next week; bring your pets inside during extreme weather!

Starting tonight, temps will be dropping fast! We are expecting a large winter storm Sunday-Monday. Please do not leave your dogs and cats outdoors for extended periods of time. Just like humans, animals can suffer from frostbite and hypothermia!

Please keep an eye out for animals in need. A garage is a safer place for a dog than outdoors in inclement weather. Together, we can make a difference and keep our furry friends safe!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR IMMEDIATE RESCUE FOR THIS GIRL!!

Warning: some images may be considered graphic.

You may have seen or heard of this skinny girl running the streets for some time now. She’s been posted around a lot!

She was picked up on Park and Ray Street in Alton, she looks to have been shot with pellet guns. We need immediate rescue for her so she can see a vet. 📣 🚨

Please let us know if you know anything about who might have done this to this sweet girl. She is friendly but nervous. She just wants someone to help her.

🚨🐾PLEASE SHARE, We need your help! 🐾🚨

Yesterday alone, AC took in SEVEN new dogs. That is a very large intake day for us as we are only a 14 kennel facility. That is in addition to the dogs that are already there. We need to get Comet and Drummer tagged ASAP.

Comet is a middle aged, dog friendly dog! He is already neutered. He is favoring one of his back legs and we are not positive on why. He could have an old injury or maybe been hit by a car before intake.

Drummer is a smaller boy, around 35 pounds. He is around 1 year old. He is very friendly with everyone he has met!

Please let us know if you have room for either boy! We need to move these two immediately so we can keep kennel space open for more instakes!

Alton Animal Control had a VERY busy 2024.

Our intake numbers:
112 cats. 289 dogs. 1 cockatiel. 1 deer. 1 goose. 1 groundhog. 2 pigs. 1 possum. 7 raccoons. 1 turtle. 1 vulture. 1 iguana. 416 total intakes!

Outcomes:
Cat outcome- 1 medical euthanasia. 1 return to owner. 109 sent to rescue. - 99% save rate
Dog outcome- 201 sent to rescue! 71 returned to owner, 13 euthanized due to aggression/unrehabitable. - 96% save rate

Cat and dog save rate combined- 96.5%!!! This is something to truly celebrate. The state of Illinois defines “no kill” as having a live outcome rate of at least 90%. Alton AC had a 96.5%!!!! This is also with almost 60% of our dog population being pitbull or pit type mixes.

Our goals for our community for 2025:
1. Most importantly: SPAY AND NEUTER your pets!
2. Register your microchips with current info. (Getting a microchip implanted does not register them)
3. Contain your pets within a fence, your home, or on a leash!
4. Like, share, and invite your friends to our page!

Last but not least, we cannot thank our community and rescue partners enough for helping save all of these amazing animals. We could not do this without every single one of you!

UPDATED: went to rescue Please share for foster/adopter!! Darleen is a middle aged gal around 6-7 years old. She is a super sweet girl but is definitely nervous sitting in Animal Control. She did GREAT when tested with another large dog today. We believe she is most likely house trained, as she keeps her kennel clean! Video in comments! If you are able to foster her, please message our page directly!! Fostering does not cost you anything but your time and love! The rescue will provide all supplies and vetting. Adoption is also a possibility. Please message us if you are interested!

UPDATE: Lady has been placed in a foster home! 🚨🚨Please share! 🚨🚨 We are looking for a rescue, adopter, or foster for our lab, Lady! Lady would do best not being in a shelter environment long term. She is very scared being locked up in the dog runs with how loud it is. When she is out, she is a typical sweet, loving, bubbly lab girl! She seems to be around 3 years old and non reactive to other dogs. She LOVES squeaky toys! 🧸 🎾 Please let us know if you have space for Lady!! Dobby is wanting to be someone’s big baby. He is ready to leave Alton AC! Dobby is 2-3 years old and a very gentle boy. He is calm and mild mannered. He is not a jumper.
