We treat all of our patients as if they were our own, and our clients like they are family. Our focus is on preventative care and teaching our clients how to proactively care for their pets, preventing many diseases, and helping catch other, unavoidable diseases in their early stages, when they are most treatable. We offer comprehensive in-house diagnostics, including digital radiography, electroc

ardiography, dental radiography, as well as comprehensive, general blood and urine testing. We also offer Companion™ therapy laser, which can be used to aid in the treatment of many wounds and ailments, and help make some chronic conditions more comfortable. We will again offer acupuncture services, beginning in early 2023! We accept all major credit cards, Care Credit, as well as personal checks and cash. We accept and work with all pet insurances, and we offer Trupanion Express.

This week is National Vet Tech Appreciation week!

Our vet techs do so much more than what meets the eye, and we can’t be more thankful for them, and all their hard work!

Each day we have special prizes, lunch and an activity to celebrate how great they are! Today and through out the week the techs will be searching for sneaky little unicorns🦄 hidden around the hospital.

Happy Tech week to our team 🫶🫶

Bennett had the best time visiting all his friends here at the clinic!💙
A lot of the time, the vet is a scary place for dogs and cats. We love when people bring in their fur babies for some positive exposure, so maybe it’s a little less scary for their visits !

July is water safety awareness month!
Many of us are seeking out the refreshing waters with our pets in tow. Water play is great for pets. It is great low impact exercise especially for senior pets. As with most activities there are some dangers, so throughout the month we will be highlighting how to keep your pets safe in the water.
Today we’d like to cover Cyanobacteria. This is a deadly microorganism that is also called blue-green algae. It is toxic and can be deadly to pets. It is most frequently found in non-flowing freshwater. The photos below are how it can look. We recommend staying away from any water with an algae looking floating substance. Some signs that your pet has been exposed are: vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, weakness, confusion, seizures, and trouble breathing. If you think your pet has been exposed, rinse them off if you can and seek care at your local emergency veterinarian. You can check popular lakes and ponds on the NH DES website for test results via the healthy swimming mapper.

We would like to wish everyone a happy Fourth of July! We will be closed for the fourth and will reopen on the fifth. Just a few reminders to keep pets safe!

Fireworks can be frightening for some dogs. Make sure to give them a safe place to relax during the festivities. This may include a room with closed windows/shades, background noise, and an enrichment toy like a frozen stuffed kong to keep them occupied. If your pet panics, a crate may keep them safest.

Cookouts are fun but can be dangerous to pets. Many foods are toxic or could cause intestinal blockages and/or vomiting and diarrhea. Make sure to inform guests and family members that your pet doesn’t need any additional snacks. Sometimes it helps to say they have a medical condition or an allergy to further solidify the rule.

Finally even the best trained dogs go missing during the fourth. With all the activity, noises and smells it can cause dogs that are normally homebodies to flee. Make sure you are keeping an eye on your pet or have them confined or on leash. Making sure your pets microchip information is up to date will help with reunification if needed.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July 🇺🇸

June is pet preparedness month!

With firework season upon us, it is time to be prepared! If your pet gets anxious with fireworks and/or festivities- now is the time to get anti-anxiety medications.

Your pet needs to have had an exam within the last year to be prescribed any medications. Make sure your appointment is scheduled before the craziness of July 4th 🇺🇸 ! Medication request must be submitted 48 hours before you need them.

If you are setting off fireworks, make sure your pet is in a secured, safe place to reduce risks of any accidents or your pet running off.

Have a safe, happy and healthy summer ! ☀️

For pet preparedness month we are discounting our microchip service! Each microchip will be $10 off. There are many benefits to microchipping your pet.
1. Proof of ownership for legal reasons.
2. Better chances of being reunited with a lost pet. Pets can travel miles before being found, sometimes out of reach of local authorities. Microchipping allows your pet to be registered nationally.
3. Some places require microchips for travel (into or out of a place).
We use home again microchips. They offer a premium plan you can sign up for after placement. Some benefits are…
1. Lost pet alerts and poster distribution to authorities, shelters, and veterinary offices.
2. A 24/7 hotline with access to veterinarians for emergency advice.
3. Paid travel assistance if your pet travels far while lost.

Call us if you would like to take advantage of the discount this month, and take one more step toward pet preparedness!

June is National pet preparedness month! We will be focusing on being prepared for various pet emergencies. Today’s focus is porcupines. We have treated 2 dogs for quills this week.
Facts!
1. Quills cannot be shot out by the porcupine, they are loosely attached to the skin.
2. Each porcupine has about 30,000 quills.
3. Once pricked the quills continue to migrate into the skin at a rate of 1mm per minute.
4. Porcupines are good climbers and swimmers.
5. Porcupines are mostly active at night.

Ways to be prepared!
1. Monitor your pets while outside from dusk till dawn, even in fenced in areas. They can climb well.
2. If your pet is quilled seek care immediately (urgent care/ER if we are closed). Quills go deeper as time goes by.
