Prairie Dog Pet Grooming

Prairie Dog Pet Grooming Primarily dog grooming services. After a 6 year sabbatical, "I'm baaaa-aaack." I am currently taking appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays.

I generally don't make appointments before 9am, and am open until the dogs go home. I try to get your dogs groomed as efficiently and quickly as possible. I would appreciate it if you returned the favor and picked up your dogs soon after you've been notified they're done. If you need to leave them longer, (or are running late,) please let me know at drop off so I know how to plan my day in the bes

t way I can for everyone. I only mention this for those folks who were accustom to leaving their dogs all day when the shop was open in full swing. Just talk to me about your needs and I'm sure we can work something out. For those of you who are new to Prairie Dog Pet Grooming, my name is Tanja and I have been grooming for over 20 years now. (How can that be possible?!) I opened Prairie Dog in this location in 2000, and ran a busy shop through 2010, when I needed to take a break. I rented the building and equipment to another groomer for 3 years--while I worked part-time for 2 other grooming shops. After the renters decided to relocate, and in the process of cleaning the building after they left, I started taking new and returning clients on my days off. Business has been slowly growing. If you're looking for a quiet, slow paced grooming shop, I Just might be a good choice for you! I'm willing to try grooming any dog, but when it comes to high energy large dogs, or dogs with severe aggression issues--unfortunately, I'm not up to the challenge anymore. So, why "PRAIRIE DOG?"
Well, Illinois is "the prairie state," which means, if your dog lives in Illinois, it is a "prairie dog!" When I first opened, I thought it would be fun to promote Illinois and local business, as well as do a little educating about the importance - and disappearance - of the Illinois tall grass prairies. I miss the beautiful landscape paintings of prairies, by Leah Gallant McFall, that filled the shop windows! Perhaps I'll be able to reintroduce prairie information in this second phase of Prairie DogPet Grooming.

Several of my highly valued and long time doggy clients have passed on this summer. Some were a total shock and a few were not so surprising. Either way, as always, this has left me with a heavy heart. It has also created some holes in my schedule for the rest of the year. If you know of anyone with a small to medium sized dog(s) who is looking for a new groomer, please feel free to give them my name and number. Maybe we can make something work.
As always, I so appreciate you and your dogs, and your continuing patronage!
