Second Chance Strays Cat Rescue & Lounge Giving stray/abandoned cats a second chance by providing vetting, spay/neuter and a furever home! Welcome to Second Chance Strays Cat Rescue & Lounge!

We are located in Blair County PA. We take in stray, unwanted, and surrendered cats and kittens. All kitties are spayed/neutered, age appropriately vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, and tested for FeLV/FIV before adoption. All adoptable cats/kittens will be placed in the cat lounge for the public to meet! The hours on our page are for the cat lounge. You do not need to adopt to come visit our ca

Long awaited update from the fire today. We are getting a ton of messages and are trying to keep up, please please please be patient with us.

The 3 babies pictured below were pulled from one of the burning buildings. We are taking on their care for the family so they can have some relief that their babies are taken care of while they navigate this tragic time. We are getting their lungs checked and absolutely everything they might need, we are also replacing all of their items for their cats as well.

She and I were able to remove 2 cats from the 3rd floor of the apartment building that was filling with smoke and alert neighbors who had a dog and a ferret.
•Joan, our lounge administrator, was right by my side all day just ready to help and waiting for cats to be pulled.
•AFD, APD, and all other departments who helped stop the fire yesterday. It was a long long day but they persevered

MISSING!!!!

Altoona- 1100 block of 13th avenue, right by our rescue.

White one was pulled from the fire alive and is here with us safe. The orange one and the brown tabby ran out of the house and are outside. Both have purple flea collars on

PLEASE keep an eye out, DO NOT CHASE!!!!

We are getting a ton of messages about the massive working fire over across the street from us. All of our cats are safe. We have offered our lobby to the families to keep them warm and we are on standby for any pets that need assistance. We are happy to have helped evacuate 3 cats and a dog from the one building before it caught fire but unfortunately at least 6 cats are still unaccounted for. We are on standby and will be covering the medical cost for any cats found.

Please please please say a prayer for the families and hold your furry friends tight😭❤️

Our last patient of 2024 is getting sleepy.
Our 2,579th patient to be exact!

We helped clients and their pets from all over Pennsylvania and have had the pleasure to work with other awesome rescues and welfare groups. We were so fortunate to have awesome volunteers to assist with all of our needs. Thank you to all for a great start to our clinic- Dr. Whitfield, Shelby- Vet Assistant, Ericka- Certified Veterinary Nurse, & Morgan- Vet Tech.

UPDATE: We were given wild misinformation about this location and have been called by the owner. She has been working with multiple groups to get these kitties TNR’d. She is welcoming us with open arms and we are going to help her finish everyone up and keep in contact with her on maintenance of the colony❤️

Yesterday we got called to a place that we have been trying to clean up for years😭

Couple years ago we pulled 14 cats from this location, but were later denied access by the property owners. We were called back again by the neighbors because of this sick kitten. He was lying in the grass, unable to see due to crusty eyes from a horrible upper respiratory infection.

We looked around and saw another kitten same size wandering around with the same issue, but he unfortunately ran from us and will need trapped.

There is at least 20 cats here that are going to need TNR’d (trapped, neutered, and released) and the friendly ones brought in and and placed for adoption after fixing/vetting. This location is along a very busy main road and this is just going to be a location of suffering and death if we don’t do something.

We want to get this under control ASAP so if anyone has it in their hearts to donate to this project and this sweet little boy, our links will be below🥺

Just a little Pumpkin update from this morning when i went to visit him🧡

I think it’s safe to say Johnny loves the bunnies 😂

Dennis, the 5 week old kitten from the HSCC hoarding case, is a little ferocious baby😹 Dennis is doing so well and will be off to his foster home today🩷

Final update: Fuji passed away in my arms via humane euthanasia at 2:03PM. Rest in Paradise Fuji😭🌈💔 12:30PM Update: On our way to VCA Metzgers 11:00AM Update: He has a suspected ruptured trachea, and a slight pneumothorax. We are transferring him to a 24 hour care facility to hopefully save his life. We REALLY need everyone to share this post and donate if you can😭 We are at the vet this morning with one of our new Kuwait kitties. Fuji has some labored breathing so we rushed him to the vet. After assessment, it’s discovered he has subcutaneous emphysema which is air just below his dermal layer. We are doing radiographs to see if he needs a chest tube or whatever else for plan of treatment. Please pray for Fuji😭🩷 If you’re able to donate, please consider it. Ollie has ulcers on his eye that got looked at by the vet on Tuesday. He was given prescription pain meds that we were told were supposed to make him sleepy and kind of out of it…….. when??? This has been him NONSTOP- I can’t get any work done!😹😹
