She provides private nutritional counseling and lessons. In the modern world of dog training, positive reinforcement-only dog trainers are causing a lot of confusion for dog owners. For those who might not know, an all-positive reinforcement dog trainer uses only positive punishment methods, like clickers, to mark good behaviors and then over-rewards the dog with treats. This type of training uses very little to no correction when bad behavior arises. In fact, they do not believe in correcting bad behavior at all. Instead, they believe in ignoring bad behavior and withholding a reward, using time-outs, intimidation tactics, ignoring the dog, withholding affection. This fools dog owners into thinking that this method is humane. All-positive reinforcement trainers are using people’s emotions to manipulate them into thinking that discipline and dominance theories are all outdated. They convince dog owners that there are more modern, scientifically proven ways that we can train dogs, but they can’t seem to explain a dog’s aggression, nor can they rehabilitate a dog that exhibits aggressive behavior. Pure Positive trainers are the reason for the increasing amount of dog bites every year. Dogs who have only been “positively” trained can be unpredictable since there have been no consequences for unwanted behaviors. Pure Positive trainers will tell you that dominance theories are outdated. For that I have a question: Since when has nature become outdated? Dogs are primitive animals and aggression in domesticated dogs can prove that. This behavioral trait in dogs is the reason why humans discovered the benefits of domesticating dogs for hunting and using them as livestock guardians and resulting in the starting of domesticating dogs as pets. Always keep in mind that as long as you stay balanced in training your dog – meaning you balance love and discipline – you will raise a balanced dog who is very confident and understands how to behave in every situation. Discipline must be done in a way to increase your dog’s intelligence and to guide your dog toward the desired behavior. We all bring to the classroom and lessons a vast expertise to address any and all breeds and their owners needs. We use the most appropriate training methodology that is successful in helping every owner achieve their training goals. Whatever is best for the dog to achieve the owner's goals.

WARNING PENNSYLVANIA DOG OWNERS
Pennsylvania hunting season is in full swing. If you allow your dog to roam, even on your own property, your dog may be in danger or killed for chasing game animals.
§ 2384. Declaring dogs public nuisances.
Any dog pursuing or following upon the track of any big game animal in such close pursuit as to endanger the big game animal or to be in the act of attacking the big game animal at any time is hereby declared to be a public nuisance and may be destroyed as provided in this title.
A person may own the land but the game animals in Pennsylvania belong to the State of Pennsylvania. If you want your animal to be safe keep it confined during hunting season. There are rules for dispatching dogs and most hunters comply, but some do not. Keep your dog at home and confined.

I want to talk about a fading puppy of ours, Fudge. After about 14 hours of vigorous nursing and latching, Fudge started failing. I noticed him losing his latch often and falling off and having to re-latch multiple times. And then of course he'd tucker out and just go to sleep. Within about 4 hours he got to the point where he wouldn't even attempt to latch/root. He'd simply go cuddle under mom or walk away from the rest of the puppies. Up until he stopped nursing he was gaining weight so I really didnt feel like he was a "weak" puppy. However once a pup can't latch they go downhill super fast. So I started tube feeding him and started antibiotics thinking the bit of a raspy chest when we left the vets office was brewing something, even if he was no longer raspy.
But it was odd, he never was in distress. He was never screaming in pain or restless or grunting. His breathing was good his temperature was good, skin turgor test was good. He just seemed like a very sleepy, lazy puppy, who could no longer latch and wasnt interested in food or anything other than laying there.
There is a condition for this in large animals called Neonatal Maladjustment Syndrome or "dummy foal" or dummy calf. It's usually found in foals or calves born via c section *ding ding* (but not always). It is said to be caused by abnormal levels of hormones that affect the neonates behavior even causing neurological signs.
There is a treatment for this in foals and calves. The “Madigan Squeeze Technique” was developed to create pressure that mimics the normal birth canal pressures which are believed to signal the foal to transition from sleeping in the womb to wakefulness. Basically telling the neonate to "wake the hell up, you've been born". To do this you apply pressure with a series of ropes around the chest and abdomen mimicking the tightness of the birth canal. You leave these ropes on tight for a minimum of 20 minutes. The neonates during this time goes into a relaxed paralysis phase because they think they are being born.
I've never seen it done nor heard of it being done in small animals but Fudge was presenting exactly like a dummy foal and what did I have to lose?
So I got some 1inch stretchy cling and made a few loops of "rope" around his chest and abdomen. I made them tight but obviously not so tight he couldn't breathe. He layed perfectly still in my arms the entire 20 min duration. I removed the ropes and brought him over to mom where he instantly rooted and within 2 seconds latched onto a ni**le. A puppy who before the squeeze was offered a ni**le and would rather just lay under mom snuggled in.
It worked. To my surprise, instantly. He has since latched great and has continued to latch successfully at every feeding and has gained incredible gains since.
So I share my story about Fudge in hopes that this reaches other desperate breeders who may have a pup struggling. I'm not a vet and before doing anything with your pup and situation you should consult your vet, but the Madigan squeeze instantly helped Fudge.
And of course, leave it up to a mini bull terrier to make things "abnormal".
Here is a link to a video I made showing what I did. Again I am not a veterinarian nor am I responsible for any harm done to your animal. As for explaining how tight I made them I made them tight but not so tight that it impacted breathing etc.

Today is , a reminder that knowing how to save a life—especially our furry friends—can make all the difference. While having to administer CPR to your pet can be terrifying, being prepared can help you act calmly and confidently in an emergency.

Stay Calm:
1️⃣ Breathe: Take a few deep breaths to steady yourself. Focus on the feeling of the air filling your lungs.
2️⃣ Delegate: If there are bystanders, assign them tasks like finding the nearest emergency vet.
3️⃣ Focus: Keep your mind clear. Concentrate on the steps ahead and stay in the moment.

When to Start CPR:
🐾 Your pet isn’t responding
🐾 Your pet isn’t breathing
🐾 You can’t feel a heartbeat or pulse

How to Perform CPR:
Compressions:
❤️ Position your pet on their side.
❤️ Deliver 120 compressions per minute (2 per second).
❤️ For every 30 compressions, give 2 breaths.

Breaths:
❤️ Close your pet’s mouth and seal it with your fingers.
❤️ Cover their nose and give 2 breaths—enough to make their chest rise.
❤️ Check for a heartbeat after 2 minutes. If there’s no pulse, continue.

When to Stop CPR:
🐾 Your pet starts breathing and responding
🐾 You reach the vet clinic and they take over
🐾 You can’t continue physically
🐾 Your pet starts breathing but is still unconscious

Recovery Position:
Place your pet’s head to the side, slightly tilting down (unless there’s head trauma).

Compression Techniques:
🐶 Medium to Large Dogs: Compress one third of the chest depth.
🐱 Small Dogs/Cats: Use your thumb and fingers for compression, or compress directly over the heart.

Stay prepared and know that you can make a difference in your pet's life! ❤️
