A cold front is expected to bring sustained below-freezing temperatures to the local area between 19 January 2025 and 21 January 2025. To ensure your safety and the safety of your family throughout this winter weather season, please read the following safety tips:
Freezing Temperatures:
If you plan to travel, make sure your vehicle is winterized and carry emergency supplies, such as food, water, and a first aid kit. Inform someone of your destination and estimated arrival time.
Limit outdoor exposure to only necessary activities, and dress warmly in layers to protect yourself from the elements.
Bring pets indoors during extreme weather conditions to prevent hypothermia and other health risks.
Preventing Frozen Pipes:
Insulate exposed pipes in unheated areas, such as the garage or basement.
Cover outdoor faucets and hoses to prevent freezing.
Let water drip from the faucets.
Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate.
Seal any drafts or leaks in your home to prevent cold air from entering.
Maintain a consistent thermostat temperature to help prevent pipes from freezing.
