Only 3 days left, come see us before the event is over!

June 6th through June 13th we have reduced adoption fees to $20!
This includes: adoption, spay/neuter, 1 year rabies vaccination, standard intake vaccinations, city license and for small animals you get a Baby Yoda pop up bed!

The shelter is over-flowing with cats and dogs and we are reaching out to the community to help find loving homes for all of the animals before we have to make very difficult decisions to make space. We have over 20 dogs available and over 30 cats/kittens available with more coming in every day.

With so many animals coming through our doors and training several new staff members, we apologize for any missed calls to the office and Facebook messages. All walk-ins welcome during our business hours Mon - Fri 12pm to 5pm at 2200 Enterprise Drive Altus, Oklahoma.

Even if you can't adopt, please share so more of the community has the opportunity to find their forever friend!

How do we find animals homes when they're lost?

1. When our officers receive a call about an animal being loose, of course the first step is to locate them! Typically we need either an approximate address or landmarks where the animal is located, and a brief description of the animal.
2. When we locate a stray animal, we immediately begin trying to find their home. The first stop is to check for a collar and tags, or a microchip, which is the fastest way to find a home!
3. Typically lost animals are very close to their home, so we knock on doors near where the animal was found and see if anybody recognizes them.
4. If we have a house that we are pretty sure the animal lives at, we are able to contact utilities and get information regarding the people who live in that house, and get in contact with them.
5. We have a database that stretches back over 25 years and has a search function for just about everything you can think of, including animal names, descriptions, areas they're found in, etc.
6. When all of the above fail to turn up an owner of an animal, our officers bring the animal back to the shelter and take photos of them to post online
7. All stray animals that we pick up and bring to the shelter get posted to our website! We add in any and all information that we can discern about the animal in their description so their owners can find them easier.

5 Things you need to know about microchipping!
All of our officers as well as our office is equipped with microchip scanners so we can get lost pets returned home as quickly as possible. Having your pets microchipped reduces the time your pet is away from home, reduces the number of animals within our shelter, and ensures they are returned to the correct place!

Microchipping is safe, affordable, and the obvious choice when it comes to animal identification!

All of our Animal Control Officers are equipped with microchip scanners and can scan found animals prior to bringing them into the shelter in an effort to get them returned home immediately, instead of waiting for their owners to find them.
