Mr Beefy might not have this camouflage thing down but Count doesn't mind.
That's one way to do it..
Never trust a puddle if you have ducks!
Their pool was clean for a whole 10 seconds but look how happy they are!
These big kids are almost ready to go to the pond with the other ducks. They are now spending all day outside but we are taking introductions slow.
We have 12 nestboxes for the chickens plus the duck nestboxes and they are waiting in line to lay in the goat pen stall.
Pretty sure a pile of leaves for chickens is the equivalent to a cardboard box to a kid. Happy Birds.
Got our first double EGGer today! Ouch! 😮
And this is why it's Easter every day around here...
Had to clean out the stock tank today. Beefy thought he was thirsting to death in the 20mins it took to clean it so he started drinking from the hose.
Looks like we have a new crower!
We save all our scraps throughout the day and every morning we bring them out to the chickens. This reduces nearly all our food waste and gives them a good treat.
We're working hard to winterize our grazing areas with rye, clover, and flax. The chickens are foraging more than ever. We hope to keep it growing all winter long but rotational grazing will be a must!
Playing in the sprinkler because Beefy says, "Summer ain't over till I say it's over!"
It's been one whole year since we moved to our little homestead and boy oh boy what a year it has been. We have learned so much, added a ton of animals, and even though there has been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, we've had so much fun. We can't wait to see what we can accomplish in the next year as we continue our journey towards homesteading and becoming as self sustainable as possible.
Ducks putting themselves to bed.
Working on their selfie skills.
Dust baths for the babies.
Ducks. It's storming out and these two think it's the perfect time for a frolic in the pond.
