Madonna decided Monica wasn’t going to show her up and she popped out 12 babies. 8 girls and 4 boys, unfortunately 1 female didn’t make it.

Monica kicking off the first of 4 sows to give birth this spring. She had an intensive 3 hours of labor but she got them all out and is enjoying a nice nap on this cool night. 4 girls and 3 boys, everyone is double wattled and so far doing well.

This girl here has produced so much milk on her first freshening, she’s raised and weaned 2 calves, we picked up a third but he is tiny and doesn’t eat enough so we found 2 more girls to add. She’s contributing 3 new heifers to the farm, and a couple of steers that will hopefully cover next years hay costs. If there was an employee of the month at the farm she would be it, guess her reward is the 50lbs of feed she consumes daily!

It’s going to be so strange not having the whole enormous crew together but it’s also going to be a nice change of pace around the farm. I will still have pigs, and still might produce a litter every once in a while, but I’m ready for the slow down. Thank you to everyone who reached out to offer my babies new farms, everyone went with at least one friend and that is more than I could of hoped for them.

Victoria is always first in line for snacks. She’s the one who always ways a sip of my coffee, so she gets the last of the cup or else I get coffee with a sanded rim.
