Enrichment is thought of as 'improving' something special from its standard. For the dogs and cats who visit us, enrichment looks like reinforcing good manners, stimulating their brains with specialized activities (brain games), and enjoying time out of the house with other pets.

When the client tells you their pet normally needs sedation for a nail trim, but a little understanding of body language and a dose of patience result in a muzzle-free, low-stress, nail trim. It’s the little things.

It’s not always that easy, but it’s nice when it is.

🐶🎀Meet Kristin – Groomer at Sidekicks Stay & Play

With 7 years of grooming experience, Kristin has been an integral part of Sidekicks Stay & Play for the past 2.5 years. She works her magic from Tuesday to Friday, ensuring every dog leaves look their best.

Kristin’s favorite grooming service? Pet-safe dye! She loves getting creative and adding a splash of color to her furry clients. But what she enjoys most about grooming is building lasting relationships with the pets (and their humans) who come through our doors. Whether it's a fun style or simply making dogs feel pampered, Kristin’s passion shines through in her work!

This week is staff appreciation week at Sidekicks!
What exactly does a Sidekicks Team Member do?

Our team is here starting at 5:00 AM to care for your dogs and cats. From walks and playtime to feeding and medication administration, they are the rockstars who get it done. After a load or two of dishes, laundry, and cleaning up after number twos, they answer phones, send you report cards on your pet's days, and keep our facility in tip-top condition.

They are creating play groups based on the individual pets we have here each day, supervising and reinforcing good habits, training to wait for doors and other good manners, and brainstorming new enrichment activities.

They're preparing for tomorrow, cleaning suites and fluffing blankets. After another phone call, a third cup of coffee, and a smile, they shut this place down and get ready to do it all again tomorrow.

My team is incredible. They're people who want to grow and learn. They want the animals in our care to have fun, not just 'be' here. They encourage anxious animals to open up and build confidence and excited animals to release their energy and relax. They are leaders, leaders in the making, people with bold ideas, and they love people. You see, that's the other thing...

They really love people. I have a list of requirements for the folks who join Sidekicks, and at the top of the list, just under a passion for animals, is the need to hire someone who wants to make a difference in the lives of the people we have the pleasure of serving.

Thank you to all our excellent Sidekicks staff who make the wheels turn, take care of our guests, and share the love.
