Surprise! Our usual entrance got a makeover, courtesy of Walmart's parking lot construction crew. No word on when it'll be done, but don't worry—you can still reach us and Sidekicks Stay & Play - Amarillo,TX through the Northwest entrance. Heads up: more folks might be doing U-turns when they realize they can't get to Walmart , so keep an eye out when walking your pets. Thanks for rolling with the punches!

Be careful when fishing in Amarillo. The "Interested Doggo" is an invasive species and commonly found in these parts.

To help you get ready for July 4th, follow these 5 helpful tips:
1.) Refill anxiety medications for your pets, even while they're boarding if you're out of town for the holiday.
2.) We'll be closed on July 4th, so make sure you've refilled any prescriptions or food before running out.
3.) Traveling for the holiday? Ensure your pet is up-to-date on vaccinations when boarding or traveling with you. If traveling with your pet by plane or car, ensure you have the proper health certificates to cross state lines and international borders/waters.
4.) Avoid feeding dogs table scraps that are high in fat or likely to be ingested whole and cause issues (rib bones, corn cobs, skewers, etc.)
5.) Keep your pet secure and check that its chip information is current. If your pet escapes and is picked up, having up-to-date contact information is vital for reunification.

We love watching our patients get better! Check out this progress update from a recent patient success story (TW: Wounds):

"Japan" Pham was brought to our team for some much-needed help. After his new family rescued him, they discovered something wasn't quite right. Japan had trouble walking, appeared very uncomfortable, and was pretty depressed.

Last week, Dr. Friemel discovered his severely matted coat, open wounds, and maggots. She and her technicians got to work shaving the matted hair, removing the maggots, and treating his wounds.

The pictures below show a week's difference and progress from Dr. Friemel's initial exam and treatment to just a few days ago.

Jasper has long since crossed the rainbow bridge, but the love Dr. Friemel shows each of her patients has remained. This woman gets up, takes care of her family and her pets, and wears a smile and sense of humor every day she comes to work.

She's the kind of doctor who gets on the floor and cuddles with your dog.
The 'go above and beyond for someone secretly struggling' kind of doctor.
She's the kind of doctor who quietly inspires those around.

Now is the time to get your pet the Rattlesnake vaccine
and be vigilant when out in fields, warm sunny spots,
and near shady spots like porch steps.

This is less common in town, but if you live on the
outskirts, in Bushland, Highland Park, etc., it's wise to
keep an eye out for these maraca-equipped danger
noodles.

We've got news!

Last week, we gave hugs and wished Dr.Scroggs good luck on the new leg of her journey. Dr. Scroggs has relocated back to her hometown in South Texas to practice veterinary medicine closer to home. She has provided detailed information on her cases to our other veterinarians so patient care may continue unobstructed. We're truly excited for her and also excited to welcome Dr. Hughey to our Plum Creek location!

Dr. Hughey, pictured below, has been with our 45th location since she joined. She is a wonderful doctor with a great sense of humor who enjoys making genuine connections with her clients.
