Nala is a ~3 year old unaltered female who was surrendered to AMW due to aggression and destruction in her home, as well financial hardship from her owners. Nala is definitely struggling here, as she's very fearful and hesitant to trust in people. Nala would benefit from a loving, structured home who can work with her on socialization and confidence-building.

She has been successfully paired with a calm kennelmate for a couple of weeks now who has helped bring her out of her shell a bit, and has helped with her socialization. Unfortunately, the prolonged time in the kennel is beginning to take a toll on her and she is becoming stressed and reactive. This cute, sweet girl is the perfect match for someone, she just hasn't found them yet.

Meet Rex, he was surrendered to us earlier this week and is the cutest old man youll ever meet! He is so happy where ever he goes, always looking for his next friend and a new adventure! Rex is a very treat motivated guy but enjoys getting loved on just as much, happy to lay down on the couch next to you but eager to explore!

As you can see he has mass under his left eye, he is on meds to help deal with any discomfort he might be feeling but it dosnt seem to impede him, our vet full staff is going to do a deeper investigation on Monday and we would be happy to keep you updated on their findings. Currently Rex is in kennel E13 COA-75147. He is a fixed male, weighing 40 pounds and is about 10 years old. Rex is available for tagging and adoption, he does not have a dog test yet but is on our list to get one.

Next up we have Willie! A super sweet stray that was brought in with damage to his right eye caused by unknown means, he had to have it removed not long after arriving but is back on his feet now! He is a curious guy with a love of life and a desire for new friends! He has been loving all the attention he has been getting from vet staff lately, and would thrive in a loving home with people who want to give him all the love and attention he craves!

Willie has some stitches that will need to come out in about 10 days but otherwise he is healing very well. Our vet staff would be willing to remove the stitches if given enough of a heads up to get him scheduled or you could take him to another vet to have it done when needed. Willie does not have a deadline and is recovering nicely but will be on medication for a while that we will provide. Willie is in Service Building kennel 6, COA-75057 and is available for tagging and adoption. He is a fixed male weighing 75 pounds around 2.5 years old

This is Butch, a 2 year old neutered male who was surrendered a few days ago due to his owner having too many animals. Butch is very sweet and laid back, loves being held and pet. As you can tell from the pictures, he's come down with a little URI. He began treatment a few days ago, but his symptoms are not improving so far. He is currently staying in medical quarantine, but we think the stress of this environment is a major factor preventing his improvement. We hope in a less active setting, like a potential foster home, Butch would have an easier time getting over his sniffles.

Meet Chopper! He's a little nervous while he learns to adjust to shelter life but there's a very sweet little guy in there, we are able to pick him up and love on him all over but doesn’t like coming to the gate to see anyone and takes a minute to warm up to you. Chopper is an intact male weighing 16 pounds and is around 2.5 years old. He is currently staying kennel G10, COA-75074, he does not have a dog test yet, and comes off of stray hold tomorrow morning at shelter opening, 10 AM in person or 10:30 AM over phone. Chopper would do best in a home that has a lot of calm, he may open up and become more outgoing when he adjusts to the shelter or a new home, or he might just be a lap dog looking for a family to give him love and peace.

Benson has been with us for just over two months now and is a very sweet man, he is an intact male around 9 months old and fully vaccinated. Benson loves people as much as he loves other pups and is toy and treat motivated, he will spend every second he can with a friend, whether its a volunteer taking him on a walk or playing with his roommate. He is comfortable with other dogs and is rooming with Basil currently, being with another animal has helped him remain calm but he is also starting to feel the effects of shelter life.

Benson has been added to the urgent list because he is becoming very kennel stressed, barking and crying for attention as well as some hyper activity in his room. Benson would do great in a home with a big space to run and a nice warm place to lay down after, but may need some time to decompress from shelter life.

Basil is a fully vaccinated and spayed 9 month old puppy who has lots of energy and in need of a loving home. She is very attention motivated, always wanting to be the star of the show and be with someone. Basil loves chasing a ball around or running after her friends in the yard. Basil has been added to the urgent list today because her mental health is starting to feel the effects of shelter life, barking and whining a lot hoping for attention. Basil does well with her roommate Benson but has had a few road bumps making other dog friends, she is very energetic and wants to play but she either doesn't know how to ask properly or gets carried away in her excitement and gets rough. Basil would thrive best in a single animal home where she can get lots of attention, or a home with other animals that can correct her and help her interact with others better.

We have another urgent medical case to bring to your attention. This gorgeous little french bulldog was brought in by the field yesterday. She is a ~2 year old presumably intact female who is having a very rough time. To start, she was found with stitches in her ear for reasons unknown. She has been consistently vomiting, having diarrhea and loose stools, and occasional blood found in the stool. She also has thick occular discharge. She's starting a treatment of fenben, ponazuril, and metro, along with plenty of GI friendly wet food. She's currently being quarantined, but her picture is on the website in hopes her owners recognize her.

She is on stray hold until the morning of Friday 1/31, assuming her condition does not worsen. She will need to find placement immediately. We will send the remainder of her meds. This girl needs your help!

Bailey is a very sweet girl who loves the company of people, she is always so excited for her time outside with our staff and volunteers always wanting to have a friend to play with or just share the company. Bailey would thrive in a home with lots of love and a space to run. She is a goofball with a heart of gold that would make a family feel a little more complete and a house a little more like home.

Bailey is a fixed female weighing 72 pounds aged 5.5 years old. She is available for adoption and tagging. Bailey is currently in kennel F16, COA-74983

Glinda is the mother of 4 beautiful puppies roughly 1-2 months old. The puppies are happy and healthy but mama is not doing very well. Glinda has a mass on her right hip, and her hind right leg does not work properly, we are unsure at this time if it is as the result of an old, improperly healed injury, or if another cause like cancer is to blame. Her leg limits her ability to walk around but she is able to get around on it, if not a little slowly. This combined with kennel stress and the stress of being a new(ish) mom of 4 is taking its toll on her and currently her leg is beyond the ability of our clinic to treat properly. She is a very good mom and a very sweet and gentle girl, attentive to her kids but trusting of people to handle and play with them (video attached below).

Glinda and her puppies are in Kennel C7, her COA is 75065, the puppies are 75066-75069. Glinda is around 3 years old, weighing 50 pounds. They come off stray hold Saturday at shelter opening, 10 AM in person or 10:30 AM by phone, but please let us know if you are interested or can help ASAP if you are able/willing.

We have not given Glinda a deadline, and as her puppies are healthy they are not at risk, but Mama will need placement quickly after her stray hold is up. They do not need to go as a group as the puppies are old enough to manage on their own but we would be more than happy to get them placed as well.

Pebbles is a ~4 year old spayed female who has been at AMW for 104 days. Pebbles is quiet, calm, and very sweet. She has excellent leash manners and a gentle curiosity about the world around her. She does well with other dogs, and has had a successful kennelmate pairing for the majority of her stay here. Pebbles is a fan of peanut butter and likes car rides. She has been added to the urgent list because she's started to shut down and no longer interact. She's been losing weight and no longer takes interest in people. The prolonged time spent in a kennel is beginning to take its toll. Pebbles would make an excellent addition to any home where she can get lots of love.

Darcee is a ~1.5 year old spayed female who has been at AMW for 58 days. Darcee is outgoing and playful, with just the right amount of manageable, fun energy. Darcee loves being outside, whether walking, playing fetch, or just taking it easy and sunbathing. Darcee is great with other dogs and has worked as a test dog during her stay at AMW. Though Darcee can be a bit independent and aloof sometimes, peanut butter and treats are all you need to regain her focus and attention. Darcee has been added to the urgent list because she is becoming extremely stressed in the kennel. She is constantly barking, jumping on the walls, and doing anything she can to get noticed by passersby. Outside the kennel, Darcee is a wonderful dog, but unfortunately adopters don't get the chance to see her that way
