HOW TO TEACH “SIT” USING LEASH COMMUNICATION!
FIRST, make sure you have your dog’s attention and a handful of treats!
THEN, LIGHTLY raise the leash straight up behind the dog's head, between their ears.
(Your dog will feel a light amount of upward pressure)
FINALLY, verbally ask your dog to sit!

So You Adopted a New Puppy…
Let’s talk about Crate Training!
First, you will need to use a leash to keep your puppy focused on the task!
You will then use a treat to lure the puppy into the crate. (You may also use the leash to lightly guide them)
Once inside the crate allow your puppy to have the treat and shut the door for 1 second and then open and let the puppy out!
Repeat this step 10 times successfully before moving onto the next step!
Remember! The puppy should be released from the crate prior to crying or digging in the crate!!

So You Adopted a New Puppy…
Let’s talk about Crate Training!
First thing you need to know in order to crate train your puppy is what kind of crate you need!
We suggest the smallest crate possible!
Your puppy should have just enough room to walk in, turn around, and lay down in the crate.
Dogs do not naturally potty where they sleep. If your puppy has a lot of room, they will have room to move away from the potty area and continue to potty in the crate.
(This also applies for dogs who stay home while parents are away at work.)

Here's another piece of advice for all the puppy owners attempting to potty train right now!
If your puppy starts to potty inside, take them outside immediately to finish!
Once they have finished, praise them! (never yell, hit, or punish your dog! Only offer rewards for good behaviors and verbal correction ‘No’ for undesired behaviors)

Proven K9 Training opened our first facility in 2013, in Clayton, NM as a pet supply store, training facility, and dog grooming. In 2018, we made the decision to move our facility to Amarillo, Texas. We are honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to continue growing and build our business, with a new facility in DFW and plans for a Lubbock Facility! We have almost 9 years experience in pet dog obedience. We use structure and obedience to build confidence and neutrality within your dog, giving you a dog that can maintain him/herself in the midst of any distraction. Once your dog has completed training, our Proven trainers train you and your family as well! We want to ensure that you have a solid understanding of your dog’s training, how to use the commands, what to use the commands for, and how to continue to grow with your dog.
