Another great buck went home today. To say this deer is anything but a true Midwestern Giant Whitetail would be an understatement. It has it all, mass, length,height and droptines. Congratulations to Amber Hochstatter on a beautiful buck and thank you and Bryan for your family’s continued Taxidermy business.

Tall and heavy Bureau county buck. This buck was harvested by a self taught deer hunter. Cassidy Geiger has year by year been studying and hunting Whitetails and scored big with this buck. Congratulations Cassidy!

Trio of African Impala’s. In my opinion, they are absolutely beautiful animals. The Black Impala is especially rare and is very sought after.

I had the pleasure of working on a fine group of trophies from the plains of Africa. It was a long journey from the actual hunt to shipping through international customs to receiving the skins and then shipping to the tannery in Michigan and back. These animals have a lot of miles on them but the finished product was worth the wait.

This Badger was caught near Amboy. It was decided to go with an open mouth, aggressive pose. The Badger is well know for being extremely aggressive with long front claws made for digging.

This incredible Whitetail is from Lee County and had become a passion for Tim Kennedy. Tim and his son have been a clients of mine for years harvesting both Elk and Whitetails. Tim had been watching this buck for years evolve into a true trophy by anyone’s standards and this year the planning paid off. Congratulations Tim on a great looking Midwestern Whitetail.

I received a call from a long time customer and he said he’d like to bring his daughters buck in for a shoulder mount, I said sure bring it in. I had no idea what was going to walk through the door. This is Amber who goes to Oklahoma State University and is from Wyanet Illinois . Amber flew home for 1st shotgun season to specifically target this buck that her family had been watching for 3 years. On Saturday at with just a few minutes of shooting light left a great looking 10pt stepped out and offered a shot. Amber decided the 10 pt was gonna have to do and the big boy would see another year. Just as she put the 10pt in the scope, this giant stepped out of the timber and the rest is history. This buck has it all, two droptines, incredible mass, height and great character. Congratulations to Amber on this once in a lifetime Bureau county Whitetail.🦌

The first shotgun season is in the books! The hunters I talked with over the weekend had mixed results. Some had deer running everywhere and others had the opposite,very quiet deer movement. I was busy all day today taking in deer from Lee, Ogle,Bureau, and Whiteside counties. Multiple, really nice bucks with mass and character came in for shoulder mounts. The European mounts(Skull mounts)have been coming in steady. Last count today is at 37.
