I have struggled on how to word this post - and I apologize if it upset anyone, but it has to be said.
We try really hard to find the right adopters for each dog - and usually we have excellent luck.
But recently, we have received a few requests to return dogs that were previously adopted from us.
We always want to take our dogs back - HOWEVER, if you adopt a dog from us as a puppy and don't socialize it, then 2,3,4 years later you are demanding that we take the dog back, with no vetting done since they left our building, with no social skills, dog aggression, no house training - it is not fair to us or to the dog AND WE WON'T DO IT.
We cannot take any dog with dog aggression, people aggression or a bite history - even if it was adopted from us originally. We don't send dogs out aggressive, and we will NOT take a dog back that comes back to us aggressive. We do our best to be transparent with any issues a dog you want to adopt may have. But there is no reason a dog adopted as a puppy should come back to us with aggression -
As the owner, it is your responsibility to provide yearly vetting, socialization, training and enrichment for a dog you adopt.
We don't always have space to immediately take back a dog adopted from us - and often there is a waiting period.
Please do not make it our responsibility to have to discuss alternatives with our vet by returning (and lying about behavior issues). Again, it is not fair to us and not fair to the dog.
TRAIN YOU DOG - PROVIDE VETTING FOR YOUR DOG - SOCIALIZE YOUR DOG - BE A RESPONSIBLE OWNER - DO NOT MAKE YOUR LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY OUR PROBLEM!
We are asking you to not comment on this post please - we will delete comments so that it doesn't become an issue.
Also there is no need or reason to share this post all over.... honestly..who does that.
