Halters stay ON!
In the last few weeks, several members of the National Horse Carriers Association and their employees have been asked to remove halters on horse(s) in box stalls while in transit. This has been a topic of discussion in meetings and it is the consensus of the National Horse Carriers Association that the best practice is to leave the halter on the horse(s). As professionals, we do our best to mitigate risks but if there is an emergency of any kind, we need to be able to get a lead on the horse or to control the horse(s) head. And in the worst case scenario, emergency first responders may not know how to put a halter on a horse.
