As we enter the holiday season, please remember, puppies and other pets aren’t just for Christmas. They are a daily 10-15 year commitment.
Consider this; That sweet wiggly puppy you bring home this Christmas will turn into a puppy that may bite or chew things they shouldn’t while going through a teething phase, a puppy that will have accidents inside while they are being potty trained, a puppy who as they grow will knock things off the coffee table with their tail, or when they jump up in excitement, a dog who will bark when there is something or someone outside because they love you so much, they are desperate to defend you and their home, a dog who will wonder why they are locked up or tied up outside when they “misbehave”, a dog who stops getting their hopes up when they hear you come outside because they know you aren’t there for them, a dog who deserves to be inside with the family that once loved them back when they were small and wiggly.
Pets aren’t like other gifts you get for Christmas. You can’t put them on a shelf when you get bored.
Please don’t use the Holiday season as an excuse to get rid of your old pet and replace them with a new puppy or kitten. They have spent their whole lives loving you, and deserve to be loved for their whole lives by you.
