We are so excited to be putting on the Bark Bash out at the with ! We have created a vendor selection that is sure to excite all the dog lovers in the Des Moines area.

Our goal was to put on an event that was interactive and fun for all attendees! All vendors will either be selling products or will have an interactive activity for the humans and their dogs.

While these skills have benefits and advantages, they are not nearly my favorite skills to implement with dogs. These skills tend to be the skills that some trainers demand your dog knows and implement scare tactics around or owner shaming. “If your dog can’t heel then you are a crappy owner.” Simply not true at all! There are so many other beneficial behaviors you can work on and implement with your dog!

2024 is the time to shift mindsets and expectations of both ourselves and our dogs! What if we went in to this year with a little bit more compassion and empathy not only for ourselves but for others?!

Perfectionism doesn’t exist.
The all or nothing mindset is dangerous.
Going with the “status quo” is so damn boring!

It’s really important for us to understand our dog’s need and when we are meeting them or even exceeding them. And I know a lot of people may say that it’s not possible to exercise your dog too much or training too much but I can tell you this is false.

Yes your dog needs exercise, enrichment, and training but they need them in certain amounts and not more. Be mindful of everything you do with your dog because it does matter!

Digging is a natural behavior that a lot of our dogs perform and tend to cause a lot of frustration around the damage that can be done to our property. I’m here to tell you that it can be implemented in a way that satisfies and fulfills both you and your dog!

Please make sure that you are being fair to your dog. Labeling them with unhelpful words like “stubborn” only lead us to treat them as such. Ask yourself if you’re being fair because my guess is you’re not!

So often we miss or ignore our dog’s communication with us simply because we are unaware! Your dog communications with you all day through their body language and the micro movements they may perform. It is our jobs to learn how to read and interpret their behavior to better understand them! #
